Jerry Lukowski (30-40) Unemployed mill worker, fighting to maintain his pride and custody of his cherished only son; former “golden boy”, a regular guy. Vocal Range: Rock Tenor (A5), with a strong controlled falsetto. This role requires nudity.

Dave Bukatinsky (30-40) Unemployed steelworker and Jerry’s best friend. A lovable, good-natured soul, with body weight and selfesteem issues. Vocal Range: Lyric Tenor (G4) with strong falsetto. This role requires nudity.
Harold Nichols (35-60) Unemployed mill supervisor. He becomes Hot Metal’s choreographer by virtue of his ballroom training. He is a doting, prideful husband who is determined to keep his wife be decked in upper middle-class luxury – in spite of 6 months of unemployment. Vocal Range: High baritone/tenor. This role requires nudity.
Malcolm MacGregor (25-35) Unemployed mill worker; depressed, suicidal, awkward...still lives at home with Mom; blossoms as he finds unexpected comfort and romance with Ethan. Vocal Range High Tenor (A5), smooth falsetto. This role requires nudity.
Noah Horse T. Simmons (40-60) A retired Black mill worker. A “grumpy old man” who surprises us with his explosive dance moves; seeking a big, winning personality who has the moves authentically inside him, Vocal Range: Baritone/Tenor (G4). This role requires nudity.
Ethan Girard (25-35) Unemployed mill worker; lonely; has a blind determination and confidence to succeed; a little eccentric, but very likable. He is surprised and quietly delighted by his connection with Malcolm. Vocal Range: High baritone/tenor. This role requires nudity.
Pam Lukowski (30-40) Jerry’s estranged wife and high school sweetheart now Teddy’s fiancée. She earnestly wants Jerry to be an active parent for Nathan, but wrestles with strong reservations about his character and her own lingering feelings for him. Vocal Range: Alto, strong belt/mix up to C5.
Georgie Bukatinsky (30-40) Dave’s wife. Loud, outgoing, brash...the “leader” of the wives and girlfriends. Her reality comes in dealing with her hubby's struggles and trying to hold her marriage together. Vocal Range: High alto, strong belt/mix up to C5.
Vicki Nichols (30-50) Harold's wife. Charming and energetic, and loves the finer things in life his job affords them. Flamboyant on the surface, her love and understanding are real. Classy, but easily one of the girls. Comedic triplethreat. Vocal Range: Alto, strong belt/mix up to C5. Comfortable with vocal improv.
Jeanette Burmeister (50+) Piano player of indeterminate years...a total old pro; she’s been married eight times and has seen...and done...it all; sassy, quick-witted, larger than life. Vocal Range: Low alto, Belt up to Ab5.
Nathan Lukowski (10-15) Pam and Jerry’s sweet and smart (beyond his years) son; trying hard to bridge the gap between his caring mother and his adored dad.
