Local Concord, MA actors are encouraged to audition.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a short cut of a musical selection of your choosing in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella, please. No dance call will take place at the initial audition.

Jerry Lukowski - 30s-40s - An unemployed mill worker, fighting to maintain his pride and the custody of his only son. All-American jock and the definitive “man's man”. Spontaneous. Very prideful. C4 - D6

Pam Lukowski - 30s-40s - Jerry's estranged wife and high school sweetheart. She wants what is best for her son. Strong business woman, but also compassionate and motherly. B3 - A5

Dave Bukatinsky - 30s-40s - Jerry's best friend and fellow unemployed mill worker. Very much a “man's man”, but more of a follower than leader. The definitive sidekick. Prideful. Self-conscious about his larger size. C4 - E6

Georgie Bukatinsky - 30s-40s - Dave's wife. She loves her husband, and worries about him. Loud, outgoing and brash. She is the leader of her group of girlfriends. G3 - A5

Harold Nichols - 30s-50s An unemployed supervisor at the mill. Hot Metal's choreographer. Thinks his worth comes from providing for his wife, so he hides his unemployment from her. B3 - A5

Vicki Nichols - (CAST, Auditions for this role are for understudies or potential replacements) 30s-50s - Harold's wife. She enjoys the finer things in life. Loves her husband more than anything, and supports him no matter what. G3 - A5

Malcolm Macgregor - 20s-30s - An unemployed mill worker. Lives at home with his mother. Depressed, suicidal, awkward, and feeble. Pigeon-chested. Finds comfort in Ethan. C4 - E6

Ethan Girard - 20s-30s - An unemployed mill worker. Lonely. Has a blind determination and confidence to succeed. Finds company with Malcolm. D3 - A5

Noah Horse T. Simmons - Black - 50s-60s - A retired mill worker. Embarrassed about being an average sized Black man. Despite being old and slow when walking, he still has explosive dance moves. Frequently grumpy. F2 - B5

Jeanette Burmeister - 50s+ - A piano player of indeterminate years and show-business pro. Sassy, quick-witted, and larger than life. Has slowed down in recent years. F4 - B5

Ensemble - actors of all backgrounds. 20s-50s who sing and dance and play multiple roles.
