SUMMER STOCK takes place on a Technicolor New England farm-turned-theater, one summer's week in mid-20th-century MGM-musical times. The tone is sincere, even earnest, as real-life questions of work v. play, living the dream v. living in reality, saving the farm v. saving the show, and showmance v. true love are all resolved via song and dance, by the final curtain.
THE ENSEMBLE: 20’s – 30’s. Play dedicated NY dancers/singers, talented, ambitious, occasionally neurotic. Terrific dancers with very strong voices. Tap required. May cover principals. The characters in SUMMER STOCK may be Black, Latine, MENASA, API, Indigenous, mixed, or white.
