Preparation: Please prepare a brief dramatic contemporary monologue.
Social drama set in St. Petersburg, Russia during the turbulent 1990s. A trusting young family is dispossessed of their home by a corrupt real estate broker.
Alexsander Alexsandrovich:
30-40. Owns a real estate agency. Good-natured, hard-working, success-oriented. The need to make money supersedes all other traits.
Oleg Ivanovich:
30-40. Real estate agent. Alexsander’s brother-in-law. Honest.
Lubov Olegovna:
25-35. Executive secretary. Likes the good things in life.
Husband (Sergey Stepanovich):
28-38. Athletically built; former gymnastics instructor. Very disciplined. Enthusiastic, caring, well- intentioned. Starting a new business with his wife.
Wife (Natalia Petrovna):
30-35. Former French teacher. Upbeat. Speaks some French phrases. Starting a new business with her husband.
Lonya:
Boy, age 8-10 (may be played by a male or a female). Sergey and Natalia’s son. Had a life-saving operation. Now a healthy and highly active boy. Imaginative.
