No work weeks accrue for health insurance.
On-site housing and one-time round-trip transportation are available to artists from outside a 50-mile radius of Catskill. All artists will receive financial compensation.

Bridge Street Theatre in Catskill, New York, the region’s “most fearless professional stage company,” is currently accepting submissions for casting consideration from local Equity/non-Equity singing actors and versatile musical theatre performers for their Summer 2025 production of Carmen Borgia’s original musical, SOUTH: A NAUTICAL MUSICAL, directed by Timothy Dakin-Dunn and music directed by Carmen Borgia.
Wheeler – A skilled yet youthful sailor with a mysterious past. Determined and independent, he carries a deep longing to discover his origins. A strong singer with an adventurous spirit. AGE RANGE: early-to-mid 20s VOCAL RANGE: TENOR, G2-E4
Arabella – The cook’s daughter, a sharp-witted, independent, and exuberant young woman. She’s resourceful and tough but yearns for stability. Strong comedic timing and vocal ability required. AGE RANGE: early-to-mid 20s VOCAL RANGE: ALTO, C3-E5
Captain Spar – An aging mariner, world-weary yet still sharp. Once a formidable sailor, now struggling to keep up in a changing world. Gruff but with a soft spot for his ragtag crew. Sings a heartfelt ballad. AGE RANGE: 50s–60s VOCAL RANGE: TENOR/BARITONE, A2-E5
Hurley – The ship’s cook, rough around the edges with a love for questionable culinary choices. Protective of Arabella, with a knack for survival and a love of schemes. AGE RANGE: 30s–40s VOCAL RANGE: BARITONE, E2-E4
NOTE: All actors in “featured” roles will also be a member of the ensemble when not in-character as their feature.
Pirate Captain – A flamboyant, commanding presence, leading the infamous Singing Pirates of Petropolis. Equal parts charming and terrifying, with a booming baritone voice. AGE RANGE: 30s–60s VOCAL RANGE: BARITONE/TENOR, B2-G4
Pym – A mysterious and well-traveled merchant with a penchant for trading in the bizarre and spiritual. A cunning, enigmatic, and somewhat eccentric man. AGE RANGE: 30s–60s VOCAL RANGE: TENOR, Bb2-Eb4
Queen Margaret – The powerful and charismatic ruler of Isla Biaches, a vibrant island community. She is commanding, elegant, and full of life. A strong singer and comedian. AGE RANGE: 30s–60s VOCAL RANGE: ALTO/SOPRANO, G3-G4
Ucello – A former monk turned coffee connoisseur. Grumpy, secretive, and deeply entrenched in his ways. Unknowingly holds the key to Wheeler’s past. AGE RANGE: 40s-50s VOCAL RANGE: BARITONE/TENOR, A2-C4
Luisa – A fierce and wild former nun, hardened by a lifetime of survival. She is tough, passionate, and unpredictable, carrying deep emotional wounds. AGE RANGE: 40s–50s VOCAL RANGE: SOPRANO, C#3-E5
Various Ensemble Roles – Includes bandits, pirates, townsfolk, and the spirited women of Isla Biaches. Seeking versatile performers with strong movement and vocal skills. AGE RANGE: 18+ VOCAL RANGE: all. Also seeking actors who might play any of the following musical instruments:
– Ukulele – any size, strumming or picking with authority
– Pennywhistle – zippy intro and a short solo
– Hand percussion – bongos, shakers, djembe, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian
– Tuba – 1 “oom-pah” and one eighth-note song
– Trumpet – 1 melodic intro
– Cello – a complicated tango and a ballad
– Classical guitar – Latin flavors
