Seeking Strong dancers who sing for all roles in SOMETHING ROTTEN.
Preparation Jazz or character shoes will be appropriate for this call. Prepare one uptempo Golden Age musical theatre song and one contemporary pop/rock musical theatre song. Each selection should be a verse and chorus in length.
Other Dates Something Rotten: Tentative first rehearsal March 17, 2015 opening May 14 closing May 24.

Breakdown
NICK: 30’s male. A writer. Nigel’s younger brother. Sweet and a little awkward. He is in love with Portia.
NIGEL: 30’s male. A writer. Nick’s older brother. He holds a grudge against Shakespeare.
LORD BALHAM: Older male. Patron of the theatre. He’s plump, flamboyant, and extremely posh.
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE: 30’-40’s Male. Over the top and very flamboyantly dressed. He is the renaissance James Brown.
THOMAS NOSTRADAMUS: Male. A soothsayer. He predicts that Nick and Nigel will write a musical.
BROTHER JERIMIAH: Male. A Puritan. The father of Portia. He despises Nick and Nigel.
SHYLOCK: An older Jewish man. Nick and Nigel are in debt to him. He becomes an investor in their musical.
BEA: 20’s-30’s Female. Nigel’s wife. She loves Nigel despite his past lack of success. She dresses up like a man to prove she can be an actor. She is pregnant.
PORTIA: 20’s-30’s Female. A beautiful woman that Nick meets on the street. She has golden hair and loves poetry.
10 Male Ensemble/6 Female Ensemble: The ensemble plays various roles including actors in Nick & Nigel’s play, fortune tellers, store owners, astrologists, a toothless woman, townspeople, demons, servants, a harem of female dancers, and law enforcement officials. We are looking for strong singers, dancers, and comedic actors.
