Please prepare two brief, contrasting monologues. Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.
Callbacks will be announced and scheduled at auditions.
All dates are in 2012. All are available unless otherwise specified. For pre-cast roles, auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. All roles will be understudied.
The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife by Charles Busch. Dir: Jonathan Croy. 1st reh: 5/14. Runs 6/6-9/1, 3-4 times/week.
Lee:
Woman, 45-60. Friend of Marjorie’s since school-age. A free spirit who burns brightly. Full of vitality, with a real hunger for new experiences. Savvy, sexy, persuasive.
Frieda:
60-75. Marjorie’s mother. Sees the world through the lens of her own needs. Quick, funny, controlling, complaining, saucy and with a high sense of drama.
Ira:
55-65. Accomplished doctor. Marjorie’s husband. Witty, well-intentioned and tolerant. Strong presence, but easily swayed. Authoritative at first glance, but always one step behind reality.
Parasite Drag by Mark Roberts. Dir: Stephen Rothman. 1st reh: 5/28. Runs 6/20-9/2, 3-4 times/week.
Susie:
25-35. A southern girl. Outspoken and confident; a “good time girl”, with all that that implies.
Gene:
30-45. Ronnie’s brother; JoEllen’s husband. Strong physical presence, intense. Religious, tightly wound, suppressed, contained.
JoEllen:
CAST. 35-45. Gene’s wife. Restless in her marriage. Quick-witted and compassionate anarchist.
The 39 Steps by Patrick Barlow. Dir: Jonathan Croy. 1st reh: 9/ 4. Runs 9/28-11/4, 3-5 times/week.
Annabella / Margaret / Pamela:
Multi-character track (30-35) for one female actor. Versatility a plus.
Richard Hannay:
35-40. Jaded and cynical in a heroic sort of way, but still capable of experiencing love (to his great surprise).
CASSANDRA SPEAKS by H. Tod Randolph and Norman Rudman. Dir TBA. 1st reh: 5/1. Runs 5/25-9/2, 2-4 times/week.
Dorothy Thompson:
CAST. 45-55. O utspoken, sophisticated, passionate writer. Controversial, irreverent, funny.
THE SANTALAND DIARIES by David Sedaris. Adapted by Joe Mantello. Dir: Tony Simotes.
1st reh: 11/12. Runs 11/30-12/30, 3-5 times/week.
Crumpet the Elf:
CAST. Man, 35-50. Sophisticated, charming, quick-witted; naughty and nice. Role for a good story-teller who is able to connect with the audience.
