Please prepare a brief monologue from AS YOU LIKE IT, ROMEO AND JULIET or any Shakespeare play. Some may be asked to present a contrasting, contemporary monologue as well.

Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

Callbacks will be announced and scheduled at auditions.

All dates below are in 2011. Available roles are listed; roles that are not listed have been cast without auditions. For pre-cast roles, auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary. All roles will be understudied.

Note: Most performers who are cast should expect to be assigned one role in AS YOU LIKE IT and one role in ROMEO AND JULIET.

As You Like It by William Shakespeare. Dir: Tony Simotes. 1st reh: 5/24. Runs 6/24–9/4.

Orlando:

Man, 25-35. Leading man-type, charismatic. Physically adept.

Jaques:

Man, 40-50. Melancholy poet, philosopher.

Oliver:

30-40. Orlando’s older brother. Edgy, manipulating, conniving.

Celia:

25-30. Well-bred; educated in manner and style.

Duke Senior / Duke Frederick:

Male, 45-55. One actor plays both. Senior: Well-loved. Authoritative, magnanimous, gentle in spirit. Frederick: Opposite of his brother, Duke Senior. Usurper, schemer.

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Dir: Daniela Varon. 1st reh: 5/ 24. Runs 7/8–9/3.

Juliet:

Seeking experienced actress 18+ to play a teenager. Juliet is radiant, passionate, intelligent, spectacularly verbal. Must move well. Seeking classically trained actress. Dance/combat/fencing training a plus.

Nurse:

Woman, mid 30s/early 40s. Warm, sensual, bawdy, loving. Moves well.

Lady Capulet:

Mid - late 20s. Restless, yearning, damaged.

Mercutio:

Man, 20s. Mercurial; edgy, appealing, complicated. Brilliant with language, expert swordsman.

Tybalt:

Man, 20s. Aggressive, volatile, sexy. Expert swordsman.

Hound of the Baskervilles Adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle. Dir: Tony Simotes. Show is cast.
