TAROON. Early 30s. Afghan. He worked as an interpreter for the US Army during the war, which has made him a target for the Taliban. He hides in his sister's apartment while awaiting the birth of his first child.
AFIYA. Early 30s. Afghan. Taroon’s sister, a seamstress. Taroon's work as an interpreter puts a target on her and her family as well. She is working hard to keep her brother and the whole family safe, which means she can't trust anyone.
LEYLA. Late 20s. Afghan. Afiya’s neighbor and childhood friend. She is chatty and a bit of a busy body which can be dangerous in such a tense situation. But she loves Afiya, and is, in her way, trying to keep everyone safe.
JAWID. Late 30s. Afghan. Afiya’s husband, a tailor. He loves his wife dearly. Taroon's work as an interpreter puts a target on him and his family. He's working hard to hold it all together, and to get Taroon out of the country for everyone's safety.
