BREAKDOWN
SYNOPSIS: The Saint Cassian High School Chamber Choir will board the Cyclone roller coaster at 8:17pm. At 8:19 the front axle will break, sending them to their tragic demise. A mechanical fortune teller invites each to tell the story of a life interrupted—with the promise of a prize like no other. Described by The New York Times as “high spirited and just plain fun from start to finish,” Ride the Cyclone is a wildly original new musical—part comedy, part tragedy, and wholly unexpected.
RICKY POTTS- Male, 18+ to play 17, any ethnicity. He should be odd-looking and/or diminutive, and so surprises everyone with killer pipes and his sexy command of the stage. He has suffered from a degenerative disease that has left him speechless and mostly immobile, so he lives mostly inside his crazy imagination and fantasies. In this strange purgatory, he has regained all his abilities and reveals a secret inner life in which he is a Ziggy-Stardust like prophet in an alternate universe (inspired by Ziggy Stardust). Baritone rock voice; basic accordion and piano a plus. NOTE: Actors of color are highly encouraged to submit.
