BREAKDOWN
About the Musical:
In 1929, the streets of Sydney, Australia ran with blood as a pair of notorious crime bosses led their rival empires to war. The twist? These two crime bosses were women. Kate Leigh and Tilly Devine spent years battling for control of the booze, drug, and prostitution trades. This new musical traces their historical reign as queens of their domains, and asks if they were truly evil ladies - or just shrewd business women ahead of their time.
Character Breakdown:
Kate Leigh
A gang leader in early 20th century Sydney, Australia. From a small town outside Sydney. She is short in stature, but has a punch like a mule kick. You do not mess around with Kate Leigh. She is in her 50s. Mezzo-Soprano belter.
Tilly Devine
A brothel owner in early 20th century Sydney, Australia. From South London originally. A bit glamorous, but don't be blinded by the diamonds on her fingers. They may be masking a razor blade. She is in her mid 30s but looks older. Mezzo Soprano with a strong mix
