• YVETTE, 55, Nuyorican, conservative and friendly, a woman whose calm, peaceful persona masks her intense family trauma.
• NIEGO, 85, Nuyorican, the matriarch, lived in but spry, stoic with a twinkle in her eyes, she can be vulgar and crude at times.
• DAVIA JOHNSON, 65, white, conservative but headstrong, big-hearted.
