BREAKDOWN
[ANTHONY]
(Male, Early-Mid 40’s) He is a bit of a recluse. Anthony is driven to work, but also has been affected by great loss in his life. Anthony is in love with Rosemary but was hurt by love in the past and is unable to express himself in those terms as he has suppressed those feelings for so long. Role requires an actor of great skill and subtlety. Actor must have a strong inner life as he carries the past with him. Must have a strong presence, and vocal dexterity. Anthony’s charm partly comes from shyness and partly comes from his commitment to the “land.” Must have a strong Irish Dialect.
[AIOFE]
(Female, Mid 60’s-Mid 70’s) Looking for dynamic character woman with strong language and dialect skill (Irish). Actor must possess confidence and strength. This is a deeply convicted woman, not afraid to express her opinions and certainly born from the stock of Ireland. She is mother to Rosemary and has a keen understanding of the history between Anthony and her daughter. In fact, she’s all too aware of the “Men” surrounding her life. Think of her as: tenacious from an armchair! She will be heard. Must have a strong Irish Dialect.
