Mary Lennox - she/her, any race or ethnicity - Soprano (High Note D5 - Low Note A3) 10 years old, British dialect. Raised by servants in British-occupied India. After the death of her parents in India, she is sent to live with her uncle in Yorkshire, England. She evolves from a spoiled, unloved and unloving creature to a girl who is full of spirit and surrounded by friends.
Archibald Craven - he/him, any race or ethnicity - Baritone (High Note F4 - Low Note C#3/Db3) Mid 30s to mid-40s, British dialect. Mary’s uncle, Colin’s father, and the master of the manor, who suffers from a crooked spine and general ill health. He has been in a crushing depression ever since the death of his wife. Archibald spends most of his time abroad, since he wants to see neither his house nor his son, Colin, because these remind him of his late wife.
Dr. Neville Craven - he/him, any race or ethnicity - Baritone (High Note F#4/Gb4 - Low Note C3) Mid 30s to mid-40s, British dialect. Archibald’s brother, and Colin’s uncle. Stuffy and officious.
Colin Craven - he/him, any race or ethnicity - Treble/Boy Soprano (High Note E5 - Low Note A3) 10 years old, British dialect. Colin is Lily and Archibald’s son. Colin's childhood has been entirely bedridden, he is spoiled and extremely imperious and gloomy. He is certain he is going to die.
Dickon - he/him, any race or ethnicity - Tenor (High Note G4 - Low Note D3) Mid-teens to Mid 20s, Yorkshire dialect. Dickon is Martha’s younger brother. A servant on the grounds and has a uniquely intimate relationship with the land. Has the power to charm both animals and people.
Martha - she/her, any race or ethnicity - Mezzo-Soprano (High Note D5 - Low Note G3) Late teens to early 30s, Yorkshire dialect. A chambermaid. Faithful friend to Mary. Charming frankness and levelheaded approach to all aspects of life.
Lily - she/her, any race or ethnicity - Soprano (High Note D6 - Low Note A#3/Bb3) Mid-20s to mid-30s, British dialect. Mary’s aunt and Archibald’s late wife. Gentle and sweet.
Rose - she/her, any race or ethnicity - Soprano (High Note D6 - Low Note A3) British Dialect. Lily’s sister.
Mrs. Medlock - she/her, any race or ethnicity - (Spoken) British dialect. The Cravens’ longtime housekeeper. She is rigid and impatient yet professional.
Ben Weatherstaff - he/him, any race or ethnicity - Tenor (High Note D#4/Eb4 - Low Note E3) A self professed “older man,” Ben is the caretaker of the grounds. Gruff but kind. Yorkshire dialect.
Dreamer Ensemble - 3 performers to play multiple characters. They sing and move well.

Louise - she/her, any race or ethnicity - Mezzo-Soprano (High Note D#5/Eb5 - Low Note C#4/Db4) 20s - early 30s. Introverted, shy older sister of June.

June - she/her, any race or ethnicity - Mezzo-Soprano (High Note D5 - Low Note G#3/Ab3) Late teens- 20s. Extroverted, talented child star. Frustrated by Momma Rose’s control.
Herbie - he/him, any race or ethnicity - Baritone (High Note B3 - Low Note G#2/Ab2) 40s to 50s. Herbie is a salesman who becomes Baby June’s manager.
Ensemble - 3 men and 3 women to play multiple roles. Sing and dance well.

Armelia - she/her. Black. Soprano (High Note C6 - Low Note G3) Mid 20s - Mid 40s. A strong willed woman who is unafraid to share her thoughts. She is confident and at ease in her body.
Charlaine - she/her. Black. Mezzo-Soprano (High Note G5 - Low Note G3) Early 20s. A sweet, young lady. Very innocent.
Ken - he/him. Black. Tenor (High Note C6 - Low Note D3) Mid 20s- Mid 40s. Jovial, cheerful, and loud. Larger than life.
Nell - she/her. Black. Alto (High Note F5 - Low Note F3) 30s-40s. Confident and charming. A knowledgeable woman of the world.

Requirement for proof of vaccination/negative test:
Everyone entering the audition venue (i.e., venue employees, Equity members, non-members, casting personnel, creatives, producers, musicians, COVID Safety Managers, etc.) will be required to undergo a symptom check and provide one of the following prior to entry into the venue:
Proof of full vaccination. “Fully vaccinated,” as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine.

Proof of a negative PCR test result taken no earlier than 48 hours prior to entry into the audition venue.

Proof of two negative antigen test results (e.g., the first taken the night before and the second taken no less than 2 hours) prior to entry into the venue. Results of non-proctored at-home antigen tests will not be accepted.
Two-ply cloth face masks, surgical masks, singer’s masks and respirators (N95, KN95 or KF94) will be allowed for face coverings. Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not acceptable face coverings. Everyone in the holding room and audition room will always wear a face covering as described above, except for the actor when they are actively auditioning. The time spent unmasked should be as minimal as possible. Face coverings must be worn correctly (covering the nose and mouth). If the risk level for Jackson County is trending upwards and may rise to High (Red) we will contact members with appointments at least 24 hours before the first audition appointment time to let them know there is a chance that the auditions may need to be postponed or canceled. All members with appointments will be notified if the auditions must be postponed or canceled.
We encourage members to prepare for their audition at home, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.
