Please prepare a short, contemporary monologue of your choosing. If singing, please prepare 18 bars of a musical theater song. Accompanist will be provided. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

Ray Healy - Male - 45-55 - An unmarried trumpet teacher and gas company employee. Sincere, enigmatic.
Dorothy Turington - Female - 11-13 - A very outspoken and confident young girl.
Arlene Hodge - Female - 40-50 - Also unmarried. A secretary in a parochial school. Direct when she needs to be.
Clancy - mid 20s - Female - Sweet, pretty, sincere.
Father Hackett - Male - 50-70 - Hardcore, no nonsense parish priest.
Linda Turington - Female - 40-45 - Dorothy's mother. Acerbic, weathered.

John Worthing - late 20s-30s-Male-The play’s protagonist. “Jack” Worthing is a seemingly responsible and respectable young man who leads a double life. In Hertfordshire, where he has a country estate, Jack is known as Jack. In London he is known as Ernest.
Algernon Moncrieff –20s-30s-Male- A charming, idle, decorative bachelor, nephew of Lady Bracknell, cousin of Gwendolen Fairfax, and best friend of Jack Worthing, whom he has known for years as Ernest.
Gwendolen Fairfax -early 20s-Female- A model and arbiter of high fashion and society, Gwendolen speaks with unassailable authority on matters of taste and morality. She is sophisticated, intellectual, cosmopolitan, and utterly pretentious.
Cecily Cardew – 18 years old-Female-Ward of Jack Worthing, has fallen in love with Jack’s brother Ernest in her imagination and invents an elaborate romance and courtship between them.
Lady Bracknell - 40s-60s-Female-presenting-Algernon’s snobbish, mercenary, and domineering aunt and Gwendolen’s mother.
Miss Prism - 40s-60s-Female-Cecily’s governess. Miss Prism is an endless source of clichps. Puritan though she is, Miss Prism’s severe pronouncements have a way of going so far over the top that they inspire laughter.
Rev. Chasuble -40s-70s-Male- The rector on Jack’s estate.
Lane and Merriman - Male-Algernon’s manservant / Butler on Jack’s estate.

Alice Murphy - Female, 30s – early 40s- Alice at age 38 and young Alice at age 16: A very strong singer and comfortable in folk and bluegrass styles. Vocal range: Very strong singer with a wide vocal range.
Billy Cane - Male- Early 20s- a soldier returning home from WWII; an aspiring young writer. A strong dancer, able to partner and lead a production number. Vocal range: Bright, natural Bari-Tenor.
Jimmy Ray Dobbs - Male 30s – early 40s- Jimmy Ray in his early 20s in flashbacks and adult Jimmy Ray at age 40. Moves well. Vocal range: Very strong singer in a pop-folk style. Bari-Tenor.
Mayor Josiah Dobbs - Male, mid 50s–60s- The Mayor of Zebulon; he’s a political and financial powerbroker – distinguished, even elegant, an imposing and controlling presence. Vocal range: Bass Baritone.
Margo Crawford-Female - early 20s. A small-town bookstore owner; a childhood friend of Billy’s who now harbors romantic feelings towards him. Has some comic moments. Vocal range: A sweet, warm folk voice.
Daryl Ames - Male, mid 30s – 40s. Works with Alice and is an aspiring writer for the southern literary magazine. Dry and witty, with great comic timing. Vocal range: Open.
Lucy Grant - Female, 20s – 30. Great comedic timing. Strong dancer. Leads a production number. Vocal range: Strong belt.
Daddy Murphy - Male, mid 50s – mid 60s. Alice’s father; an authoritative and a stern disciplinarian; devoutly religious, hard-working, a poor but proud farmer. Vocal range: Open.
Mama Murphy - Female, 50 – mid 60s. Alice’s mother; warm and strong, the center of her family. Vocal range: Open.
Daddy Cane - Male, 50s. A warm, loving country man. Has kept a secret for many years for all the wrong reasons. Vocal range: Open.
Ensemble - a variety of ages 20 – 60, Everyone moves scenery and are active throughout the entire show. Must move well. Dance experience is a plus. Vocal range: Open.

HANK - Male, 40s-60-Disabled vet and bartender. Runs the joint.
R.T. JEBB - 40s-60-Male- He’s a mystery, but a damn good cook. There’s always a camel hanging from his lips.
BEATRICE - Female-30s-Called Trish, an attorney.
JIMMY COLLINS - Male-30s-40s-Trish’s fiance.
ESTELLE - Female-late 50s-60s- Trish’s mother.

Chris -Male-(The director of the show – also plays Inspector Carter). A first-time director but a fairly decent actor if maybe a little melodramatic. Highly Physical. Note: The actor cast in this role will need to be comfortable performing on a seven-foot-high platform with no railing. British Accent
Jonathan -Male- (Plays Charles Haversham, deceased). He’s been cast as a corpse but has trouble playing dead. Highly physical. Note: The actor cast in this role will need to be comfortable performing on a seven-foot-high platform with no railing. British Accent
Sandra -Male-(Plays Florence, the fiancp of the deceased who is having a secret affair with his brother). She is the company’s leading lady; a bit of a diva who thinks she’s more talented than she really is. Note: The actor cast in this role will need to be comfortable being in an enclosed box for up to 5 minutes. British Accent
Max -Male- (Plays Cecil, brother of the deceased who is having a secret affair with Florence – also plays Arthur the gardener in Act II). British Accent
Robert -Male-(Plays Thomas, the deceased best friend and Florence’s brother). Earnest and optimistic, he always believes the show is going much more smoothly than it really is. Highly Physical. Note: The actor cast in this role will need to be comfortable performing on a seven-foot-high platform with no railing. British Accent
Dennis -Male-(Plays Perkins the butler). Has difficulty pronouncing big words and has to write a cheat sheet on their sleeve. Highly Physical. Note: The actor cast in this role will need to be comfortable performing on a seven-foot-high platform with no railing. British Accent
Annie -Female-(The stage manager). Generally able to solve problems quickly. When she has to substitute as the leading lady, she goes from nervous to confident to downright competitive.
Trevor -Male- (The sound tech guy). Note: The actor cast in this role will need to be comfortable being in an enclosed box for up to 5 minutes.
