NOTE: These descriptions are of the *characters*, not necessarily the actors who will play them - per Lauren Yee's note “perhaps everyone in the cast is wrong for their part in some way - not Russian, not twenty-five, not male
EUVGENY - Russian, male, twenty-five. Bright, earnest, an overachiever and a rule-follower eager to understand how he fits into the new world order. Well-meaning and sincere, if a little skittish.
DMITRI - Russian, male, twenty-five. His laissez-faire, laid back and cocky demeanor belies his deep insecurities about his status, and unease with a changing world. Aspiring ladies man. Wants nothing more than to return to peak Soviet Union and join the KGB.
MOTHER RUSSIA - A tough and world-weary woman who has watched regimes come and go like flipping so many channels on her television. She sees everything and clings to nothing. She has the serene pragmatism of someone who has accepted the limits of her own autonomy, though she is not wholly immune from the occasional nostalgic reflection.
