DANNY ZUKO: Male (Range: tenor, D4 – B5) The leader of the Burger Palace Boys; good-looking, strong and confident, with an air of easy-going charm.
SANDY DUMBROWSKI: Female (Range: Soprano, A3 – F#5) New girl in town; sweet, wholesome, naive, cute, and innocent.
BETTY RIZZO: Female, (Range: Alto A3 – C5) Leader of the Pink Ladies; tough, sarcastic and outspoken but vulnerable.
FRENCHY: Female, (Range: Alto, A3 – D5) A dreamer; good-natured but not too smart, heavily made up, fussy about her appearance. She can't wait to finish high school to become a beautician.
MARTY: Female, (Range Alto, C4 – C5) The 'beauty' of the Pink Ladies; pretty and appears older than the other girls but reveals her real age when she speaks. She tries to act sophisticated.
JAN: Female, (Range: Alto, A3-C5) Funny, loud, compulsive eater, awkward member of the Pink Ladies. Loud and pushy with the girls but shy with boys.
DOODY: Male, (Range: Tenor, D4-A5) The youngest of the guys; small, boyish and open, with a disarming smile and hero-worshipping attitude. He also plays the guitar.
KENICKIE: Male, (Range: Tenor, C4 – F5) Second in command of the Burger Palace Boys; tough-looking, tattooed, surly, avoids any show of softness. He has an offbeat sense of humor.
SONNY LATIERRI: Male, (Range: baritone, G3 – A5) A member of the Burger Palace Boys; funny Italian-American braggart and wheeler-dealer who thinks he's a real lady-killer.
ROGER: Male, (Range: Tenor, D4-A5) The anything-for-a-laugh stocky boy; a clown who enjoys winding people up, full of mischief, always dreaming up half-baked schemes.
VINCE FONTAINE: Male, (Range: Ensemble/Part Flexible) A typical 'teen audience' disc jockey; slick, egotistical and fast-talking. He's also a veteran 'Greaser'.
CHA-CHA, aka CHARLENE DIGREGORIO: Female, (Range: Alto, C4 – C5) The best dancer at St. Bernadette's; a loudmouth, she wins the dancing competition with Danny.
EUGENE FLORCZYK: Male, (Range: Tenor, A3 – E5) The class valedictorian; physically awkward, with weak eyes and a high-pitched voice. Typical 'apple-polisher' - both smug and pompous but gullible.

JOHNNY CASINO: Male, (Range: Tenor, G4-E5) All-American, rock-star “greaser” student at Rydell High, whose real name is Clarence.
MISS LYNCH: Female, no-nonsense, serious, loud, English teacher.
PATTY SIMCOX: Female, (Range: Alto, D4-A4) A typical cheerleader; attractive, athletic, sure-of-herself but can burst into disconcerting enthusiasm. A bit of a pain and unpopular with the Pink Ladies and can twirl a baton.
TEEN ANGEL: Male, (Range: Tenor, E4 – F5) Frenchy's suave and slick guardian angel, who encourages her to stay in school.

JENNA: Female, 20s-30s. Any ethnicity. An unhappily married waitress stuck in her life who finds happiness through baking pies and friendships with coworkers, Dawn and Becky. Lives paycheck-to-paycheck, wants to start fresh, unbeknownst to her destructive husband, Earl. Has a fantastic pop/rock voice with great range.
DAWN: Female, 20s, any ethnicity. Youngest waitress, eccentric with thick glasses, OCD tendencies. Sets the tables meticulously. Has an excellent pop/rock/folk voice.
BECKY: Female, early 40s-early 50s, any ethnicity. The oldest waitress. Irreverent, been there, kept her humor with excellent comedic timing. Has a soulful pop voice with an excellent pop belt.
DR. POMATTER: Male, 30s-early 40s, any ethnicity. Handsome, endearing, and neurotic. Jenna's gynecologist. Quirky sense of humor, big heart, strong pop/rock tenor.
EARL: Male, 20s-30s, Caucasian. Jenna's husband. Gruff with a clouded handsome face. Balanced narcissism and stupidity leading to unexpected anger and sobbing mess. Must be prepared with a song in the vein of Elton John or similar contemporary singer/songwriter. Guitar playing a plus.
OGIE: Male, 30s, any ethnicity. Strange, lovable, becomes obsessed with Dawn after a brief date. Quirky, persistent, excellent comedic timing with pop/rock tenor/baritenor sound.
JOE: Male, 60s-70s, any ethnicity. Owner of the diner, seems curmudgeonly but warm at heart. Sarcastically funny with a keen ability to read people.
CAL: Male, any ethnicity, 40s. Chef at the diner. Salt of the Earth, brash, charming with strong pop/rock voice, strong contemporary baritone.
LULU: Young Girl, to play 4-5 years old. Daughter of Jenna and Earl, sweet, carefree. Must be shorter than 127cm.

Vladimir “Vlad” Popov: Mid 40s-Early 50s, Range: A2-F4, Comic Baritone, strong mover. Dmitry’s partner, pretends to be a count before the revolution. Caring, calculating, dramatic.
Deputy Commissioner Gleb Vaganov: Mid 30s, Range: A2-Gb4. Baritone with strong upper extension. Fully believes in Communist ideals but conflicted by his obsession with Anya.
Countess Lily Malevsky-Malevitch: THIS ROLE IS CAST. Confidante and lady-in-waiting to the Dowager Empress, playful and skilled.
Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna Romanov: 80, Range: F3-Bb4. Regal Mezzo. Lost everything, icy and proud yet warm with loved ones.
Young Anastasia/Alexei: Age 5 for Young Anastasia, age 13 for Alexei, Range: C4-C5. Young Anastasia is willful, brave, and precocious; Alexei is a hemophiliac, mentioned as Anya's best friend.
Ensemble: Engages in various roles, playing Townsfolk, Royal Servants, Bolshevik Officers, Soldiers, Parisians, Reporters, and Aristocrats with several featured characters.
