PREPARATION

Please prepare 2 16-bar cuts in the style of the show(s). We welcome singing from the show(s). An accompanist will be provided. Also, bring your headshot (8x10) and resume stapled together.

Lyric Theatre and Thelma Gaylord Academy building 1801 NW 16th Street Oklahoma City, OK 73106 Lot and street parking available but limited.

SEEKING:

NARRATOR: Role shared between (3) female-identifying artists. Also, a part of the Ensemble cast. Strong rock singing voice (high best to E full range Mezzo) who is strong on comedy and moves well.

JOSEPH: This role has been cast.

JACOB/POTIPHAR: This role has been cast.

The BROTHERS: There are eleven brothers. All have strong singing voices and ability to dance. The show depends on contrasting characters of various shapes, nationalities and sizes. Selected brothers will feature in certain numbers ie. Song of the Kings - PHAROAH This featured role at the start of Act 2 require a good actor/singer. Elvis Presley impersonator who moves well. One More Angel in Heaven To sing Country and Western style. Benjamin Calypso To sing Harry Belafonte style. Canaan Days A strong comedy actor to sing Jacques Brel/Maurice Chevalier style. Go, Go Joseph Two brothers to play BUTLER and BAKER (Tenor Baritone). Contrasting character parts; short/fat or tall/thin. One brother required to be an exceptionally strong dancer with strong partnering ability (Adagio).

The WIVES: There are eleven girls. Age range late teens to late 20s. Must be excellent all-around dancers with good singing voices.

MRS POTIPHAR: One wife to play Mrs. Potiphar. Very tall, sexy vamp.

CHOIR & CHILDREN'S CHORUS: Choir Girls—Sopranos (to High C) Choir Boys—Mixed male ranges (Low A to High A, Basses down to E)

Carole King: An aspiring singer/songwriter. A unique, appealing, funny and vulnerable girl from a Jewish family in Brooklyn. Talented, good natured, unassuming and often the peace maker in difficult situations. A reluctant star with no pretense and a passion for music. Gerry Goffin: Carole's boyfriend, songwriting partner and eventual husband. Innately sympathetic, wounded and tortured. An ambitious artist always striving for more. Gender: male, Age: 18 to 30, Vocal range top: A4, Vocal range bottom: D3

Barry Mann: A songwriter who becomes romantically involved with Cynthia. He is good natured, appealing & neurotic. Ambitious, but likeable. Gender: male, Age: 18 to 30, Vocal range top: A4, Vocal range bottom: C3

Cynthia Weil: A songwriter who becomes romantically involved with Barry. Carole's best friend. She is sophisticated, smart & chic with a quick wit. Although self-confident and sarcastic, she is also extremely likeable. Gender: female, Age: 18 to 30, Vocal range top: E5, Vocal range bottom: G3

Don Kirschner: An influential music publisher and producer. He is a fast talking, energetic force of nature. Powerful, direct & sometimes intimidating, but he has a real affinity for his writers and artists. A hit maker. Gender: male, Age: 40 to 60, Vocal range top: C#4, Vocal range bottom: A2

Genie Klein: Carole's Jewish mother. Once an aspiring playwright, she has been broken down by life & her husband's infidelity. Protective of Carole and unforgiving of her husband's mistakes. Gender: female Age: 40 to 50

JUD FRY: Baritone D3-C#4. Misunderstood loner who is isolated.

WILL PARKER: Tenor D#3-F4. Cowboy, comedic and impulsive. Strong tap experience

ADO ANNIE CARNES: Mezzo-Sop C4-A5. Comedic and flirtatious but naive and gullible.

ALI HAKIM: Baritone F3-D5. Comedic traveling salesman. Clever conman.

GERTIE CUMMINGS: Annoying flirt. Self-centered comedic characters with an annoying distinctive laugh.

ANDREW CARNES: Ado Annie's father and the local judge, he hunts rabbits and usually has his shotgun at the ready.

CORD ELAM: One of the men in town, a federal marshal.

IKE SKIDMORE: A local man.

FRED: Another man in town, one of Curly's friends.

SLIM: A friend of Will Parker's.

OTHER CHARACTERS: Ensemble/Citizens of Claremore. Strong dancers.

DREAM CURLY: Strong ballet dancer.
