SEEKING
FEMALE DANCERS WHO SING WELL
Mid 20s to Late 50s – Citizens of modern day Tel Aviv and ancient Jerusalem, they dance, sing, and support Tirzah in the telling of her story. Seeking strong dancers who sing well with a background in folk and modern dance. ALL CHARACTERS ARE MIDDLE EASTERN OR AFRICAN, AND ARE OF ALL SHAPES AND SIZES. Knowledge of Hebrew a plus. Bring music to sing if asked.
NOTE: Based on the Old Testament’s Song of Songs, LOVE SICK is a new musical with an original world-music score. It tells the story a young wife, Tirzah, who is in a passionless marriage and discovers she has an unseen admirer. Intrigued, she enters into a mysterious and fervent love affair, finding herself on a dizzying journey of sexual and personal empowerment. The ensemble functions in various roles in “reality,” as well as representing Tirzah’s inner thoughts, and commenting on the action.
PREPARATION
Females: Be ready to dance. Bring music to sing if asked to stay and sing. (Please prepare a song in the spiritual, middle eastern, or world-music canon, as the score of the show is highly influenced by middle-eastern harmonics.) Bring picture and resume
