Chavela: A Puerto Rican woman in her late 20s to early 30s. A confident woman who never lets her struggles get the best of her. She is the leader of the group of friends, processes the up and downs of life through humor, kindness, and heart.
Yolanda: A Puerto Rican woman in her early to late 30s. A religious, conservative woman who expects way too much of others, driving them crazy. She is headstrong about her values, her family, and is a big supporter of the American progress promised in Puerto Rico.
Gregory Pincus: Caucasian male, late 50s. A disgraced scientist who speaks like a used car salesman but is a scientific genius. He is calculating, charming, hungry for success and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Pincus is afraid that if he doesn’t succeed with the pill his life’s work will all have been for nothing.
Lizzie: Caucasian woman, late 50s. The smart and manipulative loving wife of Gregory Pincus, who will do everything in her power to make sure he doesn’t fail. Lizzie is the life of the party and uses her social influence to push Pincus forward.
Edris Rice-Wray: Caucasian woman in her 40s to 50s. A scientist and family advocate, Edris is a dry, straight to the point self-made woman in a time when self-made women were rare. She is committed to the plight of women, not afraid to stand up for what she believes in, and has unshakeable principles.
ALREADY CAST:
Maria: CAST. A Puerto Rican woman in her late 20s to early 30s. Maria believes in a better world for her and her own, but seems to accept that the world she wants may not be the one she gets.
Fernanda: CAST. A Puerto Rican woman in her late 20s to early 30s. Fernanda is a woman whose life desires have been always culled by a sister who is strict about the rules of society. A reluctant wife but a loving mother, Fernanda dreams of a day she can love and live free from the expectations of others.
Rosa: CAST. A Puerto Rican woman in her late 20s to early 30s. Rosa’s love of gossip is only overshadowed by her love for her community. Like her sister Chavela, she constantly deals with the tragedies that surround them with optimism.
