Character Breakdown:
Viola (F): 20s-30s. A grief-stricken and lovesick young lady who impersonates a man. Funny, plucky, witty, and can carry a tune.
Orsino (M) 30s-50s. A duke in Illyria. Not quite young anymore; a man who is kind, strong, and terrible at being in love. Maybe a tiny bit obsessed.
Sir Andrew Aguecheek (M/F) 20s-40s. Sir Toby’s sidekick. A rich knight who thinks they can dance, fight, sing and romance. Is equally terrible at all of them.
Malvolio (M) 40s-60s. A steward in Olivia’s household. Prim, uptight, and Puritanical in his devotion to order, cleanliness, and the Lady Olivia. All of which serves to hide his desire for more power.
Sebastian (M) 20s-30s. Fraternal twin to Viola. A kind, innocent young man to whom many strange things happen. Potentially in love with both Antonio and Olivia.
Antonio (M) 30s-50s. A sea captain, considered a pirate by Illyrians, who rescues Sebastian and becomes his friend in Illyria.
Fabian/Curio (M/F) 20s-40s. The servant in Olivia’s house/The servant in Orsino’s house.
THESE ROLES ARE CAST:
Olivia (F) 30s-50s: A countess in Illyria who is in mourning due to the death of her brother and father. Strong willed, ice queen exterior that hides a tender heart.
Sir Toby Belch (M)40s-50s Olivia’s uncle. The life of the party; a big man who parties hard and sings loudly. Crude and funny.
Feste (M/F) 30s-60s. A fool who sings, plays, and dances. Sing and play an instrument. Shakespeare’s most musical clown is also the conscience of the rich.
Maria (F) 40s-50s. Olivia’s wise and cunning gentlewoman. Smart, tough, and funny. The real brains in Olivia’s household.
