[JERRY SPRINGER] Male, 40s to 60s, white – the famous TV host. Formerly a lawyer with a local political career in Cincinnati. Jewish, grew up in Queens. Confident and in charge, with a laid-back, ironic style. Has a healthy dose of self-pity, and perhaps even self-loathing. No singing/dancing required. LEAD
[STEVE] Male, 20s to 40s, any race/ethnicity – the Head of Security for the show (aka bouncer). A big guy capable of restraining the wildest guests. Jerry’s trusted confidant, who takes his job (perhaps overly) seriously. Strong singer/dancer. PRINCIPAL
[WARM-UP/SATAN] Male, 20s to 50s, any race/ethnicity – As the show’s warm-up comic, he’s super enthusiastic, riling the crowd, and obsessive/unhinged. Then Satan is a real showman, enjoying every minute. Strong singer/dancer. PRINCIPAL
[DWIGHT/GOD] Male, 20 to 40s, any race/ethnicity – as Dwight, a loutish but weirdly sentimental dude who is cheating on his wife with her best female friend and another man. God is God, through a Jerry Springer lens. Strong singer/dancer. PRINCIPAL
[PEACHES/BABY JANE] Female, 20s to 30s, any race/ethnicity – as Peaches, Dwight’s wife, she is rough and working class, furious, vindictive and territorial – not to mention violent. As Baby Jane, she is a grown woman dressed as a baby doll, for kink, and she sticks to the role-playing. Strong singer/dancer. PRINCIPAL
[ZANDRA/IRENE/MARY/VALKYRIE] Female, 20s to 30s, any race/ethnicity – Zandra is Peaches’ best friend, who is having an affair with Dwight. Working class and up for a fight, but rather sweet in her way. Irene is the mother of Shawntell, very rural, religious, and horrified by her daughter. Mary is Jesus’ mother. Strong singer/dancer. [TREMONT/ANGEL GABRIEL] Male, 20s to 30s, any race/ethnicity – Tremont is a flamboyant gay guy, who is having an affair with Dwight. Angel Gabriel is indeed Angel Gabriel, through a Jerry Springer lens. Strong singer/dancer. PRINCIPAL
[MONTEL/JESUS] Male, 20s to 30s, any race/ethnicity – Montel is a mild-mannered guy who is dating Andrea, and is secretly into wearing a diaper and pretending to be a baby. Jesus is indeed Jesus Christ, through a Jerry Springer lens. Strong singer/dancer. PRINCIPAL
[ANDREA/ANGEL MICHAEL/VALKYRIE] any race/ethnicity – Andrea is dating Montel, not knowing of his baby fetish. Angel Michael is indeed the Angel Michael, through a Jerry Springer lens. Strong singer/dancer. PRINCIPAL
