SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Illusion Theater's 2025-26 Season (See breakdown).

PREPARATION

Please prepare two brief contemporary monologues, no more than 2-minutes. If auditioning for musical roles, please prepare a 1-minute cut of a song in the style of contemporary musical theater. Bring sheet music clearly marked in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided.

MISS RICHFIELD 1981 THERE'S A PILL FOR THAT

Miss Richfield - CAST. male singer (baritone) 65 years old.

A PICKLE (a reading)

1st Rehearsal: February 23, 2026
Performances: February 28 & March 3, 2026
All Roles Cast.
Doris: CAST. female. A generous mix of acerbic, outspoken and funny. In her early 50s when the story unfolds. Jewish heritage. Narrated from her perspective at 64.

THE POSTMAN'S DAUGHTER

1st Rehearsal: March 23, 2026
Performances: April 11-25, 2026

SEEKING:

DAUGHTER: Soprano. Early 30s. Convinced herself she was in control of her life - until the baby came. Now, she’s trapped in a cycle of spit-up and existential dread, staring at the ceiling at 3 a.m., wondering if sleep was just a myth she once believed in.

POSTMAN: CAST. Baritone, Late 50s. Never quite got the hang of talking, but he’s convinced a well-timed letter might fix what years of silence couldn’t. He writes to Daughter weekly, a mix of weather updates and awkward apologies, hoping the right stamp will somehow bring her back.

SCARECROW ON FIRE

1st Rehearsal: April 20, 2026
Performances: May 1 - May 16, 2026

SEEKING:

Dorothy: A sweet, innocent young lady with a streak of boldness, outspoken and headstrong, who dearly loves her family, friends and dog, Toto. Has already traveled to Oz and is now entering a beauty contest. Soprano.

Scarecrow/Ensemble: CAST. Devoted Friend to Dorothy, clumsy, has come to Kansas to save her.

Tinman/Ensemble: CAST. Has no heart but is very caring. Good body control. Befriends a washing machine in Kansas.

Lion/Ensemble: CAST. Acts tough, but fearful self comes out in any scary situation. Good comedic timing. Everyone in Kansas only hears him roar.
