SEEKING

Seeking ADULT AEA actors (18+), all genders, and backgrounds. Looking specifically for strong singers and dancers as our season includes a number of Musicals.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a 90 second monologue and 16 bars of an up-tempo song. If you plan on singing, please bring sheet music in the appropriate key as an accompanist will be provided.

Please note that although we are a Theater for Young Audiences, your material does NOT need to be from a children's show.

Pursuant to the terms of a concession made to this employer's agreement, the employer has agreed that any Equity member who attends this call will have an opportunity to be seen.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

Peter: (m, tenor) The oldest of the Pevensie children, a natural leader and protective older brother. Actor/singer/dancer.

Susan: (f, mezzo) The second-oldest sibling; practical, nurturing, and patient. Actor/singer/dancer.

Edmund: (m, tenor) The second-youngest sibling; hotheaded, with a taste for turkish delight and a need to prove himself. Actor/singer/dancer.

Lucy: (f, soprano) the youngest Pevensie; generous, open, and imaginative. The first to discover Narnia. Actor/singer/dancer.

Man 1: (m, baritone) the Warden, the Professor (owner of the house where the Pevensie children shelter from the London bombings), Mr. Beaver, and the voice and head of Aslan (puppet), protector of Narnia.

Mrs. Beaver: (f, mezzo) nurturing and welcoming resident of Narnia. Helps the children defeat the White Witch. Actor/singer/dancer.

Dancer 1: (m) Mr. Tumnus, the Narnian faun who befriends Lucy, as well as an Elf.

Dancer 2: (any gender) Maugrim, wolf of the White Witch.

Dancer 3: (f, soprano) Mother, Mrs. Macready, and the evil White Witch. Strong dancer/actor/singer.

Dancer 4: (any gender) a servant, tree, ghoul, and other various residents of Narnia.

Puppeteer 1: (any gender) operates a clock, Aslan, sleds, robin, mice, etc.

Puppeteer 2: (any gender) operates a knight, Aslan, sleds, robin, mice, etc.

The quest of a girl no bigger than your thumb to find others like herself. Along the way, she escapes a toad, a mole and maybugs who want her to conform to their ways.

Actor 4: (f) Old Woman, Field Mouse, Mayfly, and others - the Fieldmouse is a skittish, warm-hearted hoarder

Actor 5: (m) Mole, Mayfly, and others - wealthy and selfish, the Mole tries to adopt Thumbelina as his daughter

ZOMO THE RABBIT: A Hip Hop Creation Myth (musical)
Zomo is a Hip Hop trickster who calls on the help of Sky God to help him get respect from the other animals. She sends him on a quest that introduces him to the Hip Hop talents of dance, graffiti and DJ-ing such that Zomo realizes that together the aminals can create a new culture.

Actor A: (m) Wilbur J. Mole Rat, Jr. - The dreamer, always looking at the clouds when everyone else has tunnel vision. Sees the best (dressed) in everyone.

Actor B: (f) Grande Mole Rat - The popular kid and, consequently, the one with the most to lose. Any shift in the culture could threaten Grande’s social dominance.

Actor C: (m) Venti Mole Rat - The enforcer. The colony is a tricky place to understand, and now that Venti does, the mole rat is scared of having to re-discover a new place in it.

Actor D: (f) Tall Mole Rat - A rule-follower with a heart of gold. Cannot reconcile the non-naked rules with her conscience and naked decency.

Actor E: (m) Grand-Pah Mole Rat, Stark Naked, Announcer - Grand-Pah is the moral authority, less interested in pomp than in figuring out how to solve problems. Intimidating in the abstract, dyspeptic and old in reality.

Actor F: (f) Weather Mole, Potential Customer, Secret Service - Secret Service Mole is dead serious, who quickly and magically transforms into a Hendrix/Joplin rocker, then back to dead serious.
