Gloucester — English Army Officer, forthright
Ely — English clergy, politically astute
Hostess Mistress Quickly — Cockney dialect, matron, big heart
Alice — Speaks French, attendant to the French Princess, incisive, witty, proper
Rambures — French cavalry officer, epicurean
