NYC appointments on Wed June 7, 10am to 5pm, lunch 1 to 2. Calls for some characters will involve a dance call in the morning and an individual appointment in the afternoon.)

BREAKDOWN

NICELY-NICELY JOHNSON: (male, 30s-50s, any ethnicity) Strong actor/powerful singer/dancer. An eccentric, outgoing gambler. Associate of Nathan Detroit. Vocal range: D4-B5.

BENNY SOUTHSTREET: (male, late 30s-50s, any ethnicity) Member of the underground gambling world. Vocal range: D4-G5.

RUSTY CHARLIE: (male, 20s-40s, any ethnicity) Strong actor/singer/dancer. Member of the underground gambling world.

SARAH BROWN: (female, 20s-30s, any ethnicity) Strong actor/singer/dancer. Upstanding officer of the Salvation Army. Sees the world as categorical and through an idealistic lens. Charismatic and warm but generally uncompromising. Vocal range: B3-G5.

ARVIDE ABERNATHY: (male, 50s-80s, any ethnicity) Sarah Brown’s grandfather and member of the Mission. Good heart but easily deceived. Vocal range: D4-F5.

HOT BOX DANCERS: THREE tracks (Agatha/Allison, Martha/Ferguson, Mimi) (female, 20s-30s, any ethnicity) Strong dancers who will play Hot Box Dancers and members of the Save-a-Soul Mission.

Note that all actors who audition for a HOT BOX DANCER will be considered for all three tracks.

HARRY THE HORSE: (male, 30s-50s, any ethnicity) Member of the underground gambling world. Vocal range: F3-G5.

LT. BRANNIGAN: (male, 30s-60s, any ethnicity) Strong actor. Police officer in an ongoing pursuit of Nathan Detroit (without much luck).

NATHAN DETROIT: (male, 30s-40s, any ethnicity) Strong actor/singer/dancer. Leader and facilitator of illegal gambling but stays far enough away from the action to stay out of trouble. Accomplished underworld businessman. Longtime partner of Adelaide, always promising her a marriage in the near future. Vocal range: D4-F5.

MATILDA CARTWRIGHT: (female, 40s-60s, any ethnicity) Regional director of Save-a-Soul Mission, stern and authoritative but motivated by pursuit of charity.

SKY MASTERSON: (male, 30s-early 40s, any ethnicity) Strong actor/singer/dancer. Smooth-talking, charming gambler with a fast and loose outlook on life. Able to talk himself out of most situations. Vocal range: B3-E5

ANGIE THE OX (male, 40s-50s, any ethnicity) Member of the underground gambling world.

BIG JULE: (male, 40s-60s, any ethnicity) Tough, Chicago gambler with a prickly attitude and extreme attitudes about losing under any circumstances. Vocal range: F3-G5
