Seeking Equity actors and actor/singers for various roles in the upcoming season. See breakdown
Preparation Prepare either: 1) 16 to 32 bars of an up-tempo and a ballad. Bring music in your key; OR 2) a brief monologue appropriate to the character; OR 3) 16 bars of a song and a 1 minute monologue Total audition not to exceed 2 minutes. Bring picture and resume, stapled together.
Other Dates Callbacks from this EPA will be held Thursday, March 17 at Nola Studios, 250 West 54th Street, NYC by appointment only. Lebanon PA EPA on 3/12, 10 AM to 6PM at Movement Laboratory (see separate notice)

GENERAL AUDITION AND SEASON INFO: • 4 AEA Actor contracts per show, to be cast among all available roles. For any role CAST, actors will be considered for possible replacements. • CHILDREN: Child actors for TARZAN will be hired ONLY non-union. • STAGE MANAGERS: Our season AEA SM will return from last year. SMs may attend EPAs for initial interviews for future consideration. SMs are encouraged to submit resumes to producer Larry Frenock at larryfrenock@gretnatheatre.org for future consideration. • IMPORTANT! Have recent photo and current resume, stapled back to back. Playwright & English Professor. Good-looking, physically fit man with some boyish charm. Not the image of the bumbling, absent-minded, ivory-tower English teacher. He is a stud to his female students and object of their sex fantasies. World traveler, urbane, sophisticated. Intellectual and shy, feels out of place in Angie’s restaurant; awkward about his reason for being there – to ask for money to back his new play. Excellent actor with presence & good comic timing. Lou Graziano 55. Proprietor of the Italian restaurant. Stereotypical Italian father; wants to see his daughter married BUT still working for & living with the family. Food and drink are not only important but the basis of and solution to everything. Enjoys a good gamble. Dabbles in “other types” of business with his friends Mike and Tino. Excellent comic character actor. Tino De Felice 50s. Business associate; Mike's sidekick. Among many business interests, is primarily a real estate developer. In contrast to Mike, dresses soberly. A man of few words & even fewer social graces. Excellent comic character actor. Frankie Salvucci 50s. Horse-player - not a good one. Loser in debt to the others. Pale, nervous, beaten little man trying to maintain front of false heartiness & joviality. Excellent comic character actor. Angie 28. Lou’s daughter and Keeps the books for his restaurant; helps manage the place. Flamboyant, tough, sexy “Italian Princess” type with a mouth on her. Brunette with great figure & legs which she shows off in tight mini-skirts & high heels. Excellent actor with great presence and comic timing. Mike Francisco ROLE CAST. Late 50’s. Exotic Sicilian-American ====== Disney’s TARZAN Music/Lyrics: Phil Collins Book: David Henry Hwang Dir/Musical Staging: Jason Summers Choreo: Judy Williams Henry (One of the 4 AEA contracts will be a Chorus Contract with rider to play principal role) 1st reh: 7/5 (1 wk only). Runs: 7/14 -7/24 (5 perfs/wk for 2 wks) Seeking: Terk Tenor Eb3-B4, 20’s. Sarcastic ape. Tarzan’s best friend since childhood. Thinks he knows it all; often relies on sense of humor to get by. Excellent actor/singer with good comic timing & a rock/pop/soul tenor voice with good understanding of groove & ad-lib vocal skills. Role is written to be sung consistently in upper register. African American. Tarzan Lyric Bar/Tenor B2-Bb4, 20s. Vulnerable, fearless young man raised by apes; still untainted by civilization. Young, attractive leading juvenile type. Excellent actor/singer with long, lean, athletic physique & agility who will look and feel comfortable in loin cloth costume. Acrobatics/flying experience a plus. Role written for a pop style high baritone or tenor with solos primarily written in high register requiring a good belt mix. Kala Mezzo/Alto mix E3-Eb5, 35-45. Motherly ape; raises Tarzan as her own. Kerchak’s mate. Incredibly strong with emotional depth equal to, if not greater than, any human. Excellent actor/singer with great presence. Requires a warm, mature sound with understanding of pop style phrasing and an ability to sing a low G in full voice. Typically cast African American; could be Asian, Latina or other ethnicity. Runs: 7/28- 8/6 (5 perf/wk for 2 wks) Seeking: Murray Steinberg Tenor, 50s -60s. Father of bride. Usually defers to domineering wife Judy than cause trouble. Loving, supporting husband & father with sardonic outlook. Excellent comic actor/singer. George Howard Baritone, 50s-60s. Father of groom. Ultimate WASP; not happy about son marrying a Jewish girl. Handsome, successful, you could imagine him drinking cocktails at the club with golf buddies in Polo shirt. Excellent former leading man type with good comic timing. Must be able to dance an excellent soft-shoe. Judy Steinberg (offer has been made) Alto/Belt, 50s–60s. SEEKING STAR NAME A NON-NYC AUDIENCE WILL RECOGNIZE. Mother of bride. Typical Jewish mother; elated her daughter is marrying even if it is to a WASP. Domineering but with a smile; can also be hard as nails & not afraid to say what she thinks. Usually gets her way in almost everything. Excellent actor/singer with terrific comic timing and presence. Georgette Howard Role CAST. Alto/Belt, 50s - 60s.
