BREAKDOWN
HIRO
Mid 30s, mixed race, Japanese-American and white. James and Masako’s daughter. New York transplant. Cosmopolitan and has great comedic timing. A little rough around the edges, she isn’t always aware of how she affects others but is making a huge effort to be there for her family. Can be cool and collected but epiphanies hit her all at once to the point of overwhelming emotion.
JOHN
Mid 30s, any ethnicity. Hillarious, straightforward, doesn’t take shit kind of person. Can be kind of a jerk but a respectable one. A surprisingly great father. Smart. Sometimes has a dark anger behind his eyes. He has a lot to say and wants to be heard. He is self-aware but unapologetic. He does not wear flannel. He is unconventionally attractive. Has excellent comedic timing and great emotional range. Kentuckian.
