Breakdown

Seeking:

John Banvard; Tenor or high Baritone
30s, but ages some throughout show. A brilliant artist and dreamer with an intense drive to make something of himself. Strong enough to row a boat the length of the Mississippi and fiercely intelligent in a rugged, outdoorsy kind of way. Could be any ethnicity.

Phineas Taylor Barnum ; Baritone
30s, but ages some throughout show. A larger than life extrovert with enthusiastic pushiness. At times he is a friend, at other times completely selfish, but always a master manipulator. Could be any ethnicity.

William Chapman (plays Pastor and Queen also); Bass Baritone
40s-50s. The owner of the world's first showboat. A producer and businessman who enjoys the arts but is driven by the bottom line. He also plays the Queen and a straight-laced pastor. Could be any ethnicity.

NOTE:
A World-Premiere musical. In the mid 1800s, John Banvard created the first georama, a three-mile long scrolled painting celebrating the majesty of the Mighty Mississippi. Once a starving sketch artist, his creation catapulted him to a life of luxury and notoriety, but also brought competition and deception that threatened to push his passion to the wayside. Georama illustrates an artist’s rise and fall, and the choice between the art he loves and the life he’s always longed for.
