PREPARATION
Prepare 16-32 bars of an up-tempo and a ballad (classic musical theatre pieces preferred) and a one minute comic monologue. Bring sheet music in your key- an accompanist will be provided. No tapes or CDs permitted. Bring 3 non-returnable headshots and resumes.

SEEKING:
CAPTAIN KIRK (Tenor/Bari) – He's a faded diva and a schlubby shell of his formerly heroic self. He’s rusty after such a long time without an adventure, but the swashbuckling space captain of his past slowly re-emerges over the course of the story. – no doubling
SPOCK (Bass/Baritone) - He is an outwardly emotionless half-human/half-alien with a touch of haughtiness, but his warmth and concern for others can be seen in subtle ways. – doubles Terrell and 2 others.
KHAN (Tenor) - This is not the Khan from the movie. This Khan is campy, scenery-chewing, and has fun with the audience. – no doubling.
SAAVIK (Mezzo/Soprano) - This version of Saavik is different from her movie portrayal; here, she’s a driven bookworm who is very concerned about her academic performance – doubles 3 others.

SEEKING:
STONEY (Bari-tenor) - a handsome, strong young caveman with a strong moral compass. Although expected to be a hunter, he cannot bring himself to hurt a living creature and longs for more.
TUFF (Tenor) - Stoney’s loyal best friend, like a little brother, with a rare genetic trait that makes him pant instead of sweat (like a dog). He is happy with the way things are, reluctant to change.
JEWEL (Mezzo-Sop) - a romantic. Promised at birth to be joined to Basalt. Starting to question the rules of the tribe and all that is expected of her. When she meets Stoney she realizes that is more than what has been painted in stone.
PEG(Mezzo) - Jewel’s quirky and loyal best friend. Brash and ballsy to make up for her insecurities. Always felt inferior to Jewel in that department. She is a closet ‘panter’.
CHERT(Mezzo) - Tuff’s tween sister. Social media queen, a gossip. Always writing on her stone tablet. Quick witted and smart. Secretly crushes on Stoney.
OBSIDIAN (Bari-tenor) - Stoney’s father. A widow. He is a gifted carver who makes weapons for a living. Heart centered, he loves his son very much and tries very his best to be a good father to him. (Doubles as Fossil)
BASALT (Bari) - Next in line to be the leader of his tribe. Born into marrying Jewel. Handsome and menacing. What is written is working in his favor, and he’d like it to stay that way.
FELDSPAR (Tenor) - Basalt’s friend and wingman. Secretly has feelings for Basalt. Feels important by association.

SEEKING:
BILL (Tenor. Age: 25-35) - a young, virtuous adman. His quest for success and ravenous ambition is in part a vain attempt to fill the gloomy void created after being “declared dead” by his mother. Bill is demanding, principled and willing to suffer the consequences for standing up for what he believes. Bill’s blind spot is a naive belief that others share his high-minded principles. He revels in attention and has a weakness for taking credit for the ideas of others. And though he champions the truth, he can have difficulty living by it.
NANCY (mezzo soprano. Age 25-35) - Bill’s beautiful, devoted and adoring secretary. Not wanting to outshine Bill, she typically hides that fact that she is often the smartest person in the room and the one with all the best ideas. She is juicily seductive yet touchingly vulnerable, full of passion and longing. She is insightful about everything and everyone but herself. Her loyalty to Bill is blind, her commitment, unshakable. She is Bill’s conscience, sword and shield. Young and single, she can have any man she wants but only yearns for Bill.
EMPTY SUITS (Barbershop quartet style tenor 1, tenor 2, bass 1 and bass 2. Any age) - If advertising has a bad name you can blame it on the backslapping, glad-handing Empty Suits. These wheeler-dealer power mongers in their gray flannel suits are scheming weathervanes, going whichever way the wind is blowing. They represent everything that is wrong with the advertising industry. Spewing untruths with gleeful velocity, they’ll do anything to get ahead. Despite all their faults, chicanery and misdeeds, they are surprisingly likable in their pathetic buffoonery.
ROSI (Age: 40-50) - The classic New York wisecracking waitress at the coffee shop Bill and Nancy frequent. Rosie is the one who always has all the answers. She is street smart and able to cut through the clutter and point Bill and Nancy to the right answer. She gives good advice and without trying comes up with catch phrases and tag lines that Nancy will go on to use.

ANGELO D'AMICO(A2 - A3. Age 50’s) - Gelato Vendor. Very Italian, very proud, boastful.
DOMINIC (G#3 - F4) – Male student, age 10. Rebellious, wise guy.
PETER (G#2 - F4) - Male student, age 10. Complainer, needy.
FRANCES (G#3 - D5) – Female student, age 10. Grumpy, not motivated.
CATHERINE (G#3 - D5) - Female student, age 10. Fresh, rude.
Requirement for proof of vaccination/negative test.
Everyone entering the audition venue (i.e., venue employees, Equity members, non-members, casting personnel, creatives, producers, musicians, COVID Safety Managers, etc.) will be required to undergo a symptom check and provide one of the following prior to entry into the venue:
- Proof of full vaccination. “Fully vaccinated,” as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine.
Two-ply cloth face masks, surgical masks, singer’s masks and respirators (N95, KN95 or KF94) will be allowed for face coverings. Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not acceptable face coverings. Everyone in the holding room and audition room will always wear a face covering as described above, except for the actor when they are actively auditioning. The time spent unmasked should be as minimal as possible. Face coverings must be worn correctly (covering the nose and mouth). If the risk level for [the county or city in which the auditions will be held] is trending upwards and may rise to High (Red) we will contact members with appointments at least 24 hours before the first audition appointment time to let them know there is a chance that the auditions Revised March 14, 2022 may need to be postponed or cancelled. All members with appointments will be notified if the auditions must be postponed or cancelled. (See “Community Risk Level” below.)
We encourage members to prepare for their audition at home, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms. Additional information required in notice:
Holding/Audition room information:
The audition room is 1,462 square feet and can accommodate no more than 14 individuals at a time.
The holding room is 1,680 square feet and can accommodate no more than 46 individuals at a time.
