He is well-respected and has a strong moral compass which is often in conflict with his vulnerability.

Golde:
Late 40s-50s; Tevye's domineering wife, very stubborn with a profound love for her family and tradition. Very closed to change and anything outside her comfort zone. Can be seen as overbearing at times, but it comes from a place of protection and survival.

Tzeitel:

Motel:
Late 20s (should look younger); A tailor, in love with Tzeitel (his childhood friend). He is a bit of a nebbish type, often limited by his fear. He becomes more grown up and the man he is meant to be by the end of the play. Should have good comic timing. Sings MIRACLES OF MIRACLES.

Hodel:
20s; Tevye's second daughter. She is very romantic and adventurous and passionately in love with Perchik. She must have a beautiful soprano voice, and natural beauty. She sings FAR FROM THE HOME I LOVE.

Perchik:
Late 20s (could be younger or even a bit older); A student with radical ideas, who falls deeply in love with Hodel. A passionate intellectual - a true man with a cause. He sings NOW I HAVE EVERYTHING.

Chava:
20 (should look younger); Tevya's favorite in some ways as they share a special father-daughter bond. She secretly reads, has a great love for books and an usually great thirst for knowledge. Actor must have strong and very graceful movement skills.

Fyedka:
20s; A blonde tall and handsome Russian. He is an outsider in many ways and his love for Chava creates the ultimate test for her father.

Lazar Wolfe:
