A mother and the woman she gave up for adoption long ago meet for the first time in a professional setting that holds both the promise of connection and the threat of permanent alienation.
The following roles have been CAST. Actor will be considered for possible replacements.
Zelda Kahn:
Role CAST. 56. A senior professor at an Ivy league school; pragmatic, strong, upbeat.
Rachel Hardeman:
Role CAST. 28. A young academic with an inspired theory; intelligent, vulnerable.

THINGS BEING WHAT THEY ARE

Two men, neighbors in a condo complex, find themselves in need of a friend and turn to each other despite their seeming incompatibility.
The following roles have been CAST. Actor will be considered for possible replacements.
Bill:
Role CAST. 30s. A junior executive, seems to have it all together.
Jack:
Role CAST. 40s. His neighbor, an accountant, seems to be a mess.

Theatre’s statement: 'We are actively seeking to increase our knowledge of a diverse pool of actors. All ethnicities encouraged to attend. Although roles are cast, we draw on actors we meet for readings and other projects as well as future opportunities.'

Directions to the Oakes Center, provided by the Theatre:
Take NJ Transit, either bus or train, to the downtown Summit stop. Walk down Broad Street approximately ½ mile, make a right on Ashwood (dry cleaner on corner). Make first left onto Morris Avenue. Theatre is on corner between Ashwood and Russell. Enter in Russell Place alley on side of building.
