Breakdown
THE BIKINIS FIRST REHEARSAL: June 29 PERFORMANCE DATES: July 10 – July 26, All actresses should have a strong ability to harmonize. seeking: JODI: Annie’s sister. The leader and former manager of the group. Very driven, but don’t confuse strength with attitude. A Corporate success with a failed marriage. Vocally, gravitates to the pop world. (OPTIONAL E below middle C (C3)) STANDARD A below middle C (C3) to E above C4 (OPTIONAL G above C4) more mezzo soprano and belt. ANNIE: Jodi’s sister. Very popular and easy to get along with. Not a good business person. She is empathetic to the extreme and will always do the right thing, she took care of her parents at Sandy Shores Mobile Home when they were older. She will do anything for a cause. Still a bit of a hippie. Also, originally from Paramus, NJ. Never married. (OPTIONAL E below middle C (C3)) STANDARD A below middle C (C3) to E belt above C4 (OPTIONAL G above C4) more Rock Alto Belt KARLA: Jodi and Annie’s “fun loving” cousin from Philly. As a teenager, she was wild, and she still likes to stir it up. Loves her husband of 25 years. Vocally, lives in the rock/pop world. (OPTIONAL E below middle C (C3)) STANDARD B below middle C (C3) to E above C4 (OPTIONAL G above C4) more mezzo soprano to soprano- and belt BARBARA: Their best friend from Staten Island. Funny and irreverent. Is deft at diffusing any sibiling tensions between Annie and Jodi. Never thought she could love anything more than THE BIKINIS and R&B, until she met her husband, Benny. (OPTIONAL E below middle C (C3)) STANDARD Gflat below middle C (C3) to C above C4 (OPTIONAL F above C4) more Soul R and B Alto ========== NEW YORK WATER! FIRST REHEARSAL: July 20 PERFORMANCE DATES: July 31 – August 16, seeking: LINDA SHOUP Mid 30’s. Neurotic, affable, precise and ambitious. Think Julie White in Little Dog Laughed. She is delightful and desperate to get what she wants, at all costs, though what she wants changes radically throughout the course of the play. Strong sense of comedic timing. Even when the decks are stacked against her, she never admits defeat, she is perpetually upbeat and optimistic and a the master of how to spin things. ALBERT HIVES Mid 30’s. The type of actor Alan Ackbourn plays are made of- if they were based in New York. A slightly downtrodden, upper-middle class, egalitarian. He is someone who has profoundly absurd things happen to him, but because he lives on the outskirts of his own life, nothing affects him deeply. It is all a curious collage of oddness. Charming, smart, quirky with strong comedic timing. ========== SAVIN’ UP FOR SATURDAY NIGHT, THE HONKY TONK MUSICAL FIRST REHEARSAL: Aug 10 PERFORMANCE DATES: Aug 21 – Sep 6 seeking: ELDRIDGE The owner of the Bar & Fill and front man for the bar band; a country star wannabe who never did. 30-40’s. Tenor with a country sound. Belter/Honky-tonk twang LUCINDA Eldridge’s ex-wife, ex-singing partner, and former high school sweetheart; now a single mother and regular barfly, but still the best dancer in town. 30’s-40’s. Must dance well. Mezzo. DOC The bartender and peacekeeper at the Ready Bar & Fill; Eldridge’s best friend since childhood and the best man at his wedding. Doc walks with a limp from a high school trafic accident, when Eldridge was driving. 30’s-40’s. Bari-Tenor. Wise beyond his years. PATSY The hapless waitress at the Bar & Fill and Eldridge’s new partner-in-song. Younger than Lucinda. Vapid but kind. 20-30’s. Alto with a strong belt. RODDY The Bar & Fill’s long-suffering musician, mechanic, and fry cook. Knows everything, says very little. Pianist. 20-40’s **Actors who also play instruments are encouraged to bring their instruments to the audition.
