THE MOST DESERVING Jolene Atkinson – 40s-50s. Head of Hays City Arts Council. Very fit and energetic. Caucasian.
Ted Atkinson – Early 50s. Jolene's husband. A little pudgy, a little charming. British.
Liz Chang – 30s. An assistant art professor. Smart, ambitious, and a little patronizing. Asian-American.
Edie Kelch – 60s-70s. A widow. A local arts enthusiast and patron. Caucasian.
Dwayne Dean – 50s-60s. An unemployed good ol' boy and artist. Caucasian.
Everett Whiteside – 50s-early 60s. A paraplegic, self-taught artist. African American.
BLACK ODYSSEY Great Grand Daddy Deus – god of gods, god of the sky. The same actor plays Eaton, the chef.
Great Grand Paw Sidin – god of sea, king of fish. The same actor plays Naval Officer and John Suitor, Nella’s love interest.
Great Aunt Tina – goddess of war, the black madonna. The same actress plays The Soul Siren.
Ulysses Lincoln – a vet from the Gulf War, black, 33
Nella Pell – his wife, black, 33

Artez Sabine – Grand Marshall of a Second Line in New Orleans, 49. The same actor plays Alabama Slim, a lost traveler, and Tire’seas, the blind.
Alsendra Sabine – his wife, black, 4o. The same actress plays Queen Mother Circe Nzinga and Scylla, the sea creature.
Benevelonce Nausicca Sabine – their daughter, 10. The same actor plays Guardian One and Charybdis, the whirlpool.
JUST LIKE US Helen Thorpe – Early 40s – The narrator. Irish-American Quaker. Very smart.
Marisela – 18-22, female. Fully Bilingual and bi-culturally Mexican. Colorful. Also plays
Raul Gomez Garcia (19, male). Must speak fluent Spanish.
Yadira – 18-22, female. Fully Bilingual, bi-cultural Mexican. Marisela’s best friend, yet polar opposite in manner and look. Also plays Spanish Translator.
Clara – 18-22, female. Bilingual, bi-cultural Mexican. Innocent, religious, earnest. Also plays Prosecutor.
Elissa – 18-22, female. Bilingual and bi-cultural. The go getter team captain of the group. Also plays ensemble roles.
Fabian – (Must be fluent in English and Spanish. No accent in English.) Mexican Father. 40s. Also plays Tom Tancredo, an Italian-American Congressman.
Josefa – Late 30s, Early 40s. Marisela’s Mexican mother. Spanish, non-English speaking. Also plays ensemble roles.
Irene Chavez – 30s. Latina and Bilingual/Bi-Cultural. A social worker. Also plays ensemble roles.
Yolanda – 40s-50s. Latina but with no accent in English. Brassy. Also plays ensemble roles.
Woman – Anglo, Mid-30s. Various roles.
Young Man 1 – Latino, Early 20s.Various roles.

GEORGIA MCBRIDE Casey/Miss Georgia McBride – 20s, Male, white, Southern. A former high school football star turned Elvis impersonator who becomes a celebrated drag queen. Must believably live in both worlds.
Jo – 20s, Female, white. Casey’s pregnant wife. Also plays Eddie (male), a redneck owner of a bar, and Miss Auburn Sienna, the most elegant and beautiful drag queen in Florida.
Miss Tracy Mills – 30/40s, Male, white. A sweet-natured drag queen. Also plays Beau, Casey’s brother, a Republican accountant.
Miss Tranny Wynette – 20s, Male, any ethnicity. A sharp-tongued, ill-tempered drag queen. Also plays Jason, Casey & Jo’s friend and landlord, and Miss Helvetica Bold, a ferociously funny Drag Queen.
