Performers for various roles in this 2015 Developmental Lab of the new musical DARLING.

Preparation
Prepare ONE brief song. EITHER: authentic, contemporary pop/rock (not from a musical) OR traditional musical theatre (circa 1940s to 1960s) that demonstrates emotional range/strong musicianship. For the role of the CAPTAIN, please prepare something in the rock tenor vein.

PRINCIPALS:

THE GIRL HE CALLS DARLING
Soprano with mix or belt to F. Female. To play late teens. A fragile innocent who comes of age before our eyes. Extremely vocally and dramatically demanding.

PETER
Everybody’s dream. Pop-rock tenor to B. Male. To play late teens. Mysterious, provocative, and enticing to men and women. Very good-looking, dances well. Any ethnicity.

THE CAPTAIN
Heath Ledger’s Joker meets The Acid Queen in the body of a man 35-50. Ideal actor was a rockstar in his younger days. Totally unhinged with a voice that doesn’t quit. Psychotic.

LILY
A Burlesque owner into girls and S&M. Vicious dominatrix, belts to the rafters. Female, to play 20s. Dances well, and takes stage as a “star.” Any ethnicity.
