BREAKDOWN

About the show:

Set in New England in the first decade of the 20th Century, this musical tells the story of orphan Jerusha Abbott and her mysterious benefactor who agrees to send her to college. She dubs him Daddy Long Legs after seeing his elongated shadow. Under the conditions of her benefactor, Jerusha sends him a letter once a month, describing her new-found experiences with life outside the orphanage.

SEEKING:

Jerusha Abbott – Female, all ethnicities, must be able to play late teens. Strong, vibrant, intellectual, astute, in charge of herself. Vocal range: Strong mix to E flat and then soprano range to high A for harmonies.

Jervis Pendleton – Male, all ethnicities, early to mid 20s. Character actor. Tender, shy, perhaps slightly awkward but still attractive (but not gorgeous) young man who is hiding behind letters in order to communicate intimacy and emotion. Also intellectual and capable enough to manage inherited wealth. Mature for his years. Vocal range: Bari-tenor or Tenor up to G.
