Covid-19 Safety Information: All artists who perform in-person work for CRT’s 2023 Summer Season are required to provide proof of full vaccination, according to current CDC guidelines, prior to their start date. It is CRT’s current intent that audience masking will be optional in the 2023 Season.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

BREAKDOWN

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

The audition room can accommodate no more than 6 individuals at a time.

If you sing, please include up to a minute of a song in the style of Cinderella. Select a song of your own choice or use the provided accompaniment below. Audition submission window is from January 1, 2023, through February 15, 2023. In reference to the character descriptions: most characters we currently encounter are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/hers pronouns. However limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. We also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking actors of diverse backgrounds and abilities. Please note some tracks are paired with characters who are a specific race/ethnicity/age. Don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if you are an actor who might need specific physical accommodations we can provide. MOUNTAIN OCTOPUS

Lou: Female. 20s. Latinx. Comes to Chance from Larga Vista, half an hour away, where almost everyone is Hispanic, including her family. Looking for closure. This track includes Gabrielle in Cinderella and Ensemble Woman in Clue: On Stage.

Charlie: Male. 20s-40s. Tourist who has been coming to Chance for years but thinks this era of his life is coming to a close. Looking for connection. This track includes Fish in The Royale and Ensemble in Cinderella.

CLUE: ON STAGE

by Sandy Rustin based on the Paramount Pictures Motion Picture screenplay by Jonathan Lynn and the Hasbro board game CLUE. Directed by John DiAntonio.

First Rehearsal: May 23

Opening: June 10

Closing: Sept 2

Miss Scarlett: A dry, sardonic D.C. Madam, more interested in secrets than sex. This track includes Marie in Cinderella.

Ensemble Woman: The Cook - A gruff woman with a threatening presence (Alive and Dead). Singing Telegram Girl - A tap dancer with a heart of gold (Alive and Dead). Auxiliary Scarlet - The back of Miss Scarlet during a scene of theatrical trickery. Back Up Cop - Backup for the Chief in the very final Cops entrance. This track includes Lou in Mountain Octopus and Gabrielle in Cinderella.

THE ROYALE

Fish: Black, male presenting, late teens/early 20s. An amateur boxer. Charismatic. This track includes Ensemble of Cinderella and Charlie in Mountain Octopus.

Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA, directed by Brittni Shambaugh Addition First Rehearsal: June 6

Opening: June 30

Closing: Aug 25

Marie: A friend to Ella and the town's resident crazy lady and beggar woman, Marie is actually a fairy godmother in disguise. Wise, warm, otherworldly, and charming, Marie rewards Ella for her kindness by making her dreams a possibility. This track includes Miss Scarlet in Clue: On Stage.

Gabrielle (soprano): Ella's stepsister and daughter of Madame. Encouraged by her mother and sister to value material wealth and social status, she unenthusiastically joins them in their abrasive behavior. Quietly passionate, empathetic, and witty, she is drawn to Ella and Jean-Michel. Ironically aware that she doesn't fit. This track includes Ensemble Woman in Clue: On Stage and Lou in Mountain Octopus.
