Mission: Congo Square Theatre Company is an ensemble dedicated to producing transformative work rooted in the African Diaspora. We are a haven for artists of color to challenge and redefine the theatrical canon by amplifying and creating stories that reflect the reach and complexities of Black Culture.
Please prepare a monologue and any additional representation of your artistry; song, dance, playing a musical instrument, poetry etc. (Please note that any music performance will be acoustic) We can’t wait to see your work! An accompanist will not be present.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the
extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and
dressing rooms.

AUGUST WILSON- 40s/50s, an award-winning American playwright whose work illuminated the joys
and struggles of the African-American experience in the United States through his Century Cycle.

PATRICIA GRIFFITH - 39, Female. Long-time resident of Matteson, Illinois. Maybe she deserves everything she has, but don't be the one to question her about it.
GERALD GRIFFITH - 38, Male. Patricia's husband. Loves his single malts and his wife. Despite.
REGINA BAKER - 46, Female. Newly relocated, from the newly demolished Cabrini Green housing projects. All street-sense; more book-sense than most give her credit.
COREY BAKER - 47, Male. Happily married to Regina. Cabrini born and raised. Wouldn't change any of it, but change is inevitable.
Specific roles pending as The BLACKSiDE is a sketch comedy and ensemble based. Ensemble: All genders, ages 18+ with a wide range of comedic knowledge and abilities.
The series follows the continued escapades of Dr. Latisha Bradley whose revolutionary medical discovery will change the world, as long as her nemeses – and her own heart – don’t get in her way.
Ensemble: All genders, ages 18+. Casting artist for various support roles. All performances are via voice over recording.
PASTOR TEESH: 30s-40s, female identifying, house music DJ, Black
ENSEMBLE: All genders, ages 18+. Based on selected plays for readings the CAST is ensemble as
specific roles are pending.
