SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in CHOIR BOY (see breakdown).

Bass/Valle Casting encourages people of all races, ages, ethnicities, abilities and gender identities to apply.

All performers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by the CDC (i.e., more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine) by 03/08/2022. Any actor requiring a medical or religious exemption must provide written documentation for the exemption during the hiring process.

PHARUS JONATHAN YOUNG – he/him, character is in his late teens, African American, an effeminate young man, good singer. Tenor. Effusive. His brilliance is darkened by outside forces. His major driving action is to pursue his potential. His major compelling feeling is blockaded. He is a junior at the Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys and the lead of the school’s famous choir. He is roommates with AJ James.

ANTHONY JUSTINE “AJ” JAMES – he/him, character is in his late teens, an athletic young African American man, singer. He is a supportive friend and confidante. Caring. His major driving action is to create space. His major compelling feeling is compassion.He is a senior at the Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys. He is a member of the school’s choir and the school’s baseball team. He is roommates with Pharus Young.

DAVID HEARD – he/him, character is in his late teens, a young African American man, singer. Suppressed. He is an aspiring pastor repressing reality. His major driving action is to deny his desires. His major compelling feeling is isolated. He is a senior at the Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys. He is a member of the school’s choir.
