Fonsia Dorsey: 65 years old, female, any ethnicity. A self-righteous, prim and proper woman. Brewing underneath the surface, there is a lot of hidden anger and confusion about how and why her life has ended up here. Mostly, she has pushed those feelings down, until this gin game brings it to the surface.

Weller Martin: THIS ROLE IS PRECAST. 70 years old, male, any ethnicity. A difficult, opinionated Alpha man. Being in the old age home has humbled him in ways he wasn't prepared for. Card playing is one of the few activities where he is able to feel like his old, in-charge self again, until he starts losing.

VENUS IN FUR

By David Ives

Director: Ken Kaissar

Playwright/director who has adapted Leopold von Sacher-Masoch's 1870s novel and is very particular in his search for the right actress. Seduced by Vanda’s performance, he loses sight of the distance between himself and the text.

Vanda Jordan: 20s – 30s, female, any ethnicity. Friendly, kind, very smart, acutely aware of what’s going on around her, but doesn’t let on. Seemingly unpolished and desperate actress but who plays the character of Vanda with self-assurance, enough to impress Thomas. As her audition goes on, the lines between herself and the character begin to blur, and she takes control of the room.
