SYNOPSIS: Bull Durham, A New Musical is based on the classic MGM film, tells the story of three lives brought together by America’s two favorite pastimes: baseball and love. It’s a pitch perfect blend of comedy, drama, and steamy romance. Bull Durham, A New Musical is written by the film’s original screenwriter, Ron Shelton (writer and director of Bull Durham, White Men Can’t Jump and Tin Cup), who has adapted his screenplay for the musical, which has music and lyrics by Susan Werner.
JOSE/ENSEMBLE (Late 20s-30s). Character is male. Latin-American baseball player. Popular with the ladies. Handsome. Funny. Strong dancer and great singer. May understudy a principal role.
DEKE/ENSEMBLE (Late 20s-30s). Character is male. African-American baseball player. Funny. Strong dancer and great singer. May understudy a principal role.
UMPIRE/ENSEMBLE (Late 30s-40s). Character is male. Can be any ethnicity. A macho man. Could be a little out of shape. Funny with authority. Strong mover and singer. May understudy a principal role.
MALE ENSEMBLE (20s - 30s). All ethnicities. Male-presenting singers who are funny, physically agile and fit, and dance well. Great pop/rock voices. NOTE: May understudy a principal role.
FEMALE ENSEMBLE (20s - late 30s). All ethnicities. Female-presenting singers who are funny, physically agile and fit, and dance well. Great pop/rock voices. NOTE: May understudy a principal role.
