Please note: we are in the process of gradually ramping up Equity monitor presence at auditions held at venues other than the Equity audition center. This off-site audition will be facilitated by an Equity monitor.
ECC Procedures are in effect for this audition. An Equity Monitor will be provided.
Equity’s contracts prohibit discrimination.
Equity is committed to diversity and encourages all its employers to engage in a policy of equal employment opportunity designed to promote a positive model of inclusion. As such, Equity encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, as well as performers with disabilities, to attend every audition.
Always bring your Equity Membership card to auditions.
THIS ECC WILL BE HELD FOLLOWING PRE-PANDEMIC PROCEDURES. Equity will be beginning a return to the pre-pandemic ECC procedures with auditions taking place in the New York Audition Center at the end of the month, with a full return to these procedures for all ECCs in all locations beginning May 1. For this audition, rather than making a specific appointment, Equity members will sign up online to attend the ECC. On the day of the audition, the Equity monitor will read the list of members who signed up online to attend (in the order they signed up) and will distribute numbers to those present. Members who do not sign up in advance may request a number after everyone on the list has been accommodated. All members who receive a number prior to the start time of the audition will be seen. For more information on how these ECCs will run, please review Equity Chorus Call Audition Procedures (dated July 22, 2016) in the Document Library.
(

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.
Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

Told in both 1956 and 1996, the BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB tells the story of the beginning of the titular album and the ending of a mainstay of Afro-Cuban music.
ENSEMBLE: Seeking male-presenting and female-presenting Latin American/Hispanic singers/musicians/actors to inhabit 1950s Cuba & 1990s Cuba. Backgrounds and abilities in Latin partnering, Latin dance (mambo, salsa, bolero), contemporary dance, and ballet a plus but not required.
May understudy one or more of the following roles:
JUAN: 20s/30s. Male-presenting. Non-singer. Drumming useful but not necessary. Mixed or Black/Afro-Cuban. Driven and entrepreneurial. Smart and pragmatic.
OMARA: 50+. Female-presenting. Singer. Mixed/Afro-Cuban. A graceful diva with a sharp wit. Deeply wounded. Hides it well.
IBRAHIM: 50+. Male-presenting. Singer. Black/Afro-Cuban. A man with a sweet voice, but a deeply spiritual presence.
COMPAY: 50+. Male-presenting. Singer. Guitar useful but not necessary. Mixed or Black/Afro-Cuban. A troubadour. A flirtatious charmer, but deep down, he's a soft, vulnerable artist.
YOUNG OMARA: 20s. Female-presenting. Singer. Mixed/Afro-Cuban. A dreamer. A bohemian free spirit who - over the course of our story - faces difficult decisions.
YOUNG HAYDEE: 20s. Female-presenting. Singer. Mixed/Afro-Cuban. A realist. Not one for romanticism, daydreaming, or nostalgia.
YOUNG IBRAHIM: 20s. Male-presenting. Singer. Black/Afro-Cuban. New to the big city, but you wouldn't call him bright-eyed - because he's not had an easy life.
YOUNG RUBEN: 20s. Male-presenting. Non-singer/Advanced Pianist. Mixed or Black/Afro-Cuban. A fast-talking piano player with dreams of playing world stages.
YOUNG COMPAY: 20s. Male-presenting. Singer/Advanced Guitarist. Mixed or Black/Afro-Cuban. A charmer. Opinionated about music. Protective of the club, because it's the only place he's ever felt at home.
