BUCKS COUNTY PLAYHOUSE 2022 SEASON - EQUITY VIDEO SUBMISSIONS (PRINCIPAL)

CONTRACT

COST $817 weekly minimum (Tier 1)


SEEKING

Local Equity actors for principal roles in Bucks County Playhouse's 2022 Season to include KINKY BOOTS, DAMES AT SEA, and EVITA (see breakdown).

This is a specific call for local actors. ALL actors submitting must have local housing in the Bucks County and/or surrounding area.

All stage managerial positions have been filled.

Bucks County Playhouse does not traditionally have understudies for their productions, but based on show demands and COVID spikes that may change during the season.

BREAKDOWN

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS:

To optimize the best sound and video possible we encourage you to turn off any ambient noise (air conditioner/tv/radio) and please select a well-lit area with minimal backlighting for your video. Please also slate your name, location and height before you begin your audition.

Seeking:

CHARLIE PRICE: Male Identifying, mid to late 20’s, a bit confused and unfocused, a hero hiding under a victim’s mantle. Rock voice

LOLA/SIMON: Male Identifying, Black, mid 30’s. A prize Fighter’s physique draped in satin. A cross dresser with a killer voice and winning ways. Must have a spectacular pop voice.

NICOLA: Female Identifying, 20’s Charlie’s long-term girlfriend. Driven, uncompromising, Pop Voice.

LAUREN. Role is cast.

DON: Male identifying, 30-40’s Lola’s nemesis, burly hypermasculine bear of a factory worker.

GEORGE: Male Identifying, 40’s Factory manager, keeping up traditions. Reserved.

YOUNG LOLA / SIMON—Male-identifying. This is LOLA as a ten-year-old boy who already knows he's destined to wear high heels.

YOUNG CHARLIE—Male-identifying. This is our lead as a seven-year-old boy. Lost, quiet, reflective.

PAT—Female-identifying. Officious office manager who will let loose her wild side when allowed. Lola's love interest.

TRISH—Female-identifying. Factory worker with a husband and kids to worry over.

THE ANGELS—These are the drag performers who populate THE BLUE ANGEL NIGHTCLUB.

MR. PRICE—Male-identifying. Charlie's father in the opening and closing sequences.

SIMON SR.—Male-identifying. Lola's father. An unforgiving tower of anger.

HARRY—Male-identifying. A contemporary of Charlie's but his opposite. HARRY is successful, self aware and confident.

RICHARD BAILEY—Male-identifying. Nicola's boss. An overtly attractive and successful man.

DAMES AT SEA

Seeking:

MONA: Female Identifying, 30 to mid 40s. The ultimate Broadway diva. A true star of the highest caliber. Comedic with strong singing and dancing skills including an intermediate level of tap.

RUBY: Female Identifying, late teens to early 20’s. Innocent, pure and right off the bus from Centerville, Utah with hopes of becoming a Broadway star. Strong legit singer and strong dancer including a high level of tap.

JOAN: Female Identifying, early to mid 20’s. Tough talking chorus girl but “mother hen” to Ruby. Strong belt and mix. Strong dancer, including a high level of tap.

HENNESEY/CAPTAIN: Male Identifying, mid 30’s to 40s. Hennesy is the Stage Director about to lose his theatre and job if his show doesn’t open. The CAPTAIN commands the ship where the show ultimately takes place. Comedic with strong singing skills and movement.

DICK: Male Identifying, early to mid 20’s. A sailor who is also a songwriter. He falls hard for Ruby but gets entangled with Mona. Strong singer (high baritone/Tenor) and strong dancer, including a high level of tap.

LUCKY: Male Identifying, early to mid 20’s. A sailor, best buddy to Dick. He is in love with Joan but won’t commit to her. Strong singer (Baritone) and strong dancer, including a high level of tap.

UNDERSTUDIES: Two understudies to cover the roles of DICK/LUCKY/HENNESEY/CAPTAIN and RUBY/JOAN/MONA KENT.

EVITA

Seeking:

EVA: Female Identifying, Latina, 30’s. Dynamic leading lady with power, drive and determination. A great singer who dances.

CHE: Male Identifying, Latino, 30’s. Part storyteller, part revolutionary. Strong pop tenor voice.

PERON: Male Identifying, Latino, 40’s. President of Argentina, commanding presence. Strong baritone vocals.

MALGALDI: Male Identifying, Latino, 30’s. A concert singer who is the first step in Eva’s rise to fame. Tenor.

MISTRESS: Female-identifying, 16-18. Latinx. Juan Perón’s mistress – note the 33-year age gap and all it implies this teenager has endured and survived. Vulnerable yet nursing a secret strength. Powerful contemporary mix voice needed.

CHILD: Female-identifying, 8-10, Latinx, sincere and earnest above all – she adores Evita with all her heart. Sings “Santa Evita.”
