Professor Aronnax. 40ish. Someone with big emotions. Aronnax is a brilliant scientist with an abundant and fierce curiosity, whose enthusiasm for science allows Captain Nemo to essentially manipulate him into being happy on the Nautilus, where he is a prisoner.

Captain Nemo. Described as potentially 35 or 50 but impossible to tell. Immensely magnetic, dominant, charismatic, and mysterious. Speaks a dozen languages, including one that he invented. Genius-level intelligence, very strong and dexterous, passionately anti-government.

Guidance. 30ish. Aronnax's valet. Very coiffed, very smart, a bit flippant, dry. Extremely intelligent but about things that don't matter, like the classification of fish.

Ned Land. 30s-50s. A harpooner. Polar opposite of Guidance, but the two of them play deliciously off one another. Blue collar fisherman, not highly educated, but has a learned wisdom and common sense. Low brow humor. Has a temper. He’s always hungry and should be someone very physically intimidating.

The Ensemble – 4 roles minimum. Any age. Any gender.
