HANS

(Male identifying, mid 20s-30s, Any Ethnicity, Tenor, G2 to B3) An ambitious Prince of the Southern Isles and overlooked thirteenth son of a king. He boasts an exceedingly charming façade. OLAF

(Any Gender, 20s-40s, Any Ethnicity, Tenor, F#2 to D4) A magical snowman created by Elsa when she and Anna were young. Olaf is endearingly delighted by everything - especially the idea of summer. Goofy and sweet, Olaf should possess a childlike innocence. Has excellent comic timing.

ROUNDING THIRD

1st Rehearsal: Tuesday, July 29
Runs: August 16 (Saturday opening) – 24
9 performances

Note: Even though Don is a bit obnoxious, he is not the bad guy. Michael, even though he's a bit more sympathetic, is not always right. Both these characters are flawed and both have admirable qualities. We should be rooting for them to learn from each other and sort of be friends by the end.

SEEKING:

DON

(40s-50s) In many ways your typical little league coach you love.....or hate, depending on your athletic ability. Very confident, a fast-talker, a bit of a blow hard and a benign bully. For Don, it's pretty much his way or the highway. Think Dean Norris' character Hank on Breaking Bad. As the play goes on, we will see his vulnerability.

MICHAEL

(30s - 40s) Just a really nice guy. Open-minded, non-competitive, very loose in his approach to life and little league coaching....probably too much so. In many ways, the polar opposite of Don. Think Alan Alda in anything.

12 performances

SEEKING:

ABBY BREWSTER

(Female-identifying, 60s – 70s) Darling little old lady, the perfect aunt or grandmother. She and her sister Martha seem to be the absolute embodiment of the values of polite society of a bygone age. Of the two sisters, she is the one in charge, the “brains” of the outfit.

MARTHA BREWSTER

(Female-identifying, 60s – 70s). Exactly the same as her sister in character, except she’s probably a little younger and the follower. Both ladies seem happy, healthy, lucid, and spry. Teddy, Jonathan and Mortimer are their nephews.

ELAINE HARPER

(Female-identifying, 20s – 30s) Mortimer’s fiancé and Reverend Dr. Harper’s daughter. She is surprisingly wise in the way of the world for a minister’s daughter; she’s wily, sassy and absolutely sharp.

MORTIMER BREWSTER

(Male-identifying, 30s – 40s) Our leading man earns his living as a theater critic. He is a good-hearted cynic with a razor-sharp wit. We see a likable chap who has his world turned upside down. An aptitude for physical comedy is a plus.

TEDDY BREWSTER

(Male-identifying, 40s – 60s) A lovable lunatic who believes he is the 26th president of the United States. Everything about his demeanor & vocal delivery is colored by his belief that he is Teddy Roosevelt. This is a physical role; The actor must be able to charge (run) up a flight of stairs.

JONATHAN BREWSTER

(Male-identifying, 40s to 50s) A spine chilling psychopath with a grudge against his brother Mortimer. He is a cold-blooded killer, who is also the victim of a botched plastic surgery. An explosive temper, definitely the villain in our story. A tricky role - character is all of these things but still keep us firmly in the world of the farce.

DR. EINSTEIN

(Male-identifying, 50s to 60s) Jonathan’s reluctant sidekick and plastic surgeon. He is somewhat ratty in appearance. His face wears the benevolence smirk of a man who lives in a pleasant haze of alcohol. There is something about him that suggests the unfrocked priest. He is loyal to Jonathan, but also afraid of him.

THE REVEREND DR. HARPER

(Male-identifying, 50s to 70s): Dr. Harper is the Brewster sisters' neighbor and Elaine’s father. A stern fellow who does not approve of Mortimer as a suitor for his daughter.

OFFICER BROPHY AND OFFICER KLEIN

(Both male-identifying, 30s to 40s for each, Klein is maybe a little younger) Two lovable cops, neither very bright. But Brophy is the leader of the two. A definite comedy duo in our play.

OFFICER O’HARA

(Male-identifying, 30s to 40s) An extremely likable fellow, full of life and good-natured. This big-hearted oaf thinks he is the second coming of Eugene O’Neal! A great storyteller.

MR. GIBBS

(Male-identifying, 60s to 70s) An elderly curmudgeon. He is a little gruff but warms up quickly to the aunts' “kindness”.

LIEUTENANT ROONEY

(Male-identifying, 40s to 50s) Is in charge of the local police precinct. So he’s the boss of the three cops, and very much exasperated by their incompetence. This small but essential role drives the play in the last act. He is loud, decisive and clearly a take-charge kind of guy.

MR. WITHERSPOON

(Male-identifying, 60s to 70s) This kindly, mild-mannered gentleman is the superintendent of happy sanitarium. And the final victim!
