Breakdown

The majority of the ensemble of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS is made up of excellent technical dancers. There is ONE ensemble male and ONE ensemble female who are primarily singers and must also be comfortable with some dance. Specific descriptions below:

MONSIEUR BAUREL/MALE ENSEMBLE SINGER
Male 50s-60s, actor with excellent comic timing and good singer. Henri’s father, proper in all ways. Comfortable with some dance/movement. FEATURED ENSEMBLE

OLGA/FEMALE ENSEMBLE SINGER
Female 50s. Actor with excellent comic timing and a very strong soprano voice (to a high D). Olga is a Russian ballet teacher. Comfortable with some dance/movement. Understudies the role of MADAME BAUREL, Henri’s dry, uptight mother, obsessed with appearances, and while commonly self-righteous, wants the best for her loved ones. FEATURED ENSEMBLE
