BREAKDOWN
Hard times mean hard decisions as an Indiana family faces the prospect of losing their farm. This small-town tale returns by popular demand, featuring music by Tim Grimm and Jason Wilbur, with generous helpings of courage, love and humor.
SEEKING:
MIKE (Male, early to mid 40s, Caucasian) He is quiet, stoic, and traditional. He is from a farm family of many generations. Needs to physically read as a fit farmer. He is private and doesn't want folks to know the family’s troubles. He is not an intellectual, but not uneducated. Loving and present.
SCOTT (Male, 18+ to play 16, Caucasian) He is athletic, messy and oblivious. A small-town high school football player who is trying to establish his independence. He must be able to play some big emotional turns. Not sophisticated.
PENNY (Female, early to mid 40s, Caucasian) She was not born in a farm family but has acquired a feeling for it. She is very pragmatic and a little hot headed. While is she is not an intellectual, she is not uneducated. She is a big multitasker and problem solver, which makes her extremely resourceful. She does so much physical labor that she must be physically fit. An extrovert.
JOHNNY (Male, mid 60s-mid 70s, African American) He is a life-long farmer, from a farm family and a keen observer of rural life. A widower with children at some distance, he’s a bit of a loner. He is kind and thoughtful, a gentle soul who offers lessons in an easy way. He is stubborn, but compassionate with a dry wit.
