PREPARATION
Monologues from the script will be provided when making an appointment and available at the audition for any walk-ins. Visually impaired performers may request an advance copy of the sides when making an audition appointment.

BREAKDOWN
Gene
Male. Twenty-one, boyish and a little naïve. Even in his most profound moments of understanding, he’s still in the dark.
Mrs. Slater
Female. In her fifties. She’s tough as nails and has experienced loads of tragedy in her life, but still she perseveres. She runs a laundromat.
Carl
Male. Is a Russian Literature professor in his fifties, tormented by his relentless thoughts and nightmares.
Caitlin
Female. Is barely twenty. She’s a wide-eyed romantic, fiery and impetuous. Despite her fits of toughness, she is a young as Gene is boyish.
Brad
Male. Is in his mid-thirties, a ridiculously plain man who longs for something more than the appliance shop that he runs.
Lily
Female. Is in her late thirties. She’s physically fit artist with secrets of her own. She’s intriguing and a bit of a mystery
