SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Musical Theatre West's 2024-25 Season (1st Half) (See breakdown). Strong singers, actors, and dancers local to the Los Angeles / Orange County area are encouraged to audition. Musical Theatre West strives to reflect its community and welcomes and encourages all performers of any gender identity, age, religion, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, language, physical ability or diverse viewpoints to audition. All Equity stage managerial positions have been filled.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a short vocal selection in the style of the show you are auditioning for. Singing from the show is welcomed. Also, please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

JERSEY BOYS

SEEKING:

Frankie Valli: a strong tenor with sweet and strong falsetto and be able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli; strong tenor to high A or Bb plus strong falsetto up to treble G; charismatic and charming; comfortable with narrative text; Has a gritty side as well as a polished veneer; comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies.

Nick Massi: a strong bass/baritone voice; comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; comfortable with narrative text; a quiet dreamer who longs for life after The Four Seasons.

Bob Gaudio: CAST. a strong tenor/baritenor voice; comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; comfortable with narrative text; an intelligent, sensitive, and introspective musical prodigy.

Tommy DeVito: a strong tenor/baritenor voice; comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; comfortable with narrative text; ability to play guitar a very strong plus; a natural born leader with an appealing, bad-boy quality.

Joe Pesci: young, energetic; a strong singer.

Bob Crewe: intelligent and flamboyant; genius music producer and lyricist; an integral part of creating the magic of The Four Seasons.

Gyp DeCarlo: tough, mafioso type; a strong singer.

Mary Delgado: a strong singer and dancer; Frankie’s wife; tough, seen it all, Italian, Jersey girl; she’s got a killer sense of humor; doubles as a variety of other roles, including member of a 60s style girl group; strong belt useful; high straight tone soprano also useful but not required.

Lorraine and Francie: singer and dancer with flexible vocal registers; doubles as a variety of roles (the many girlfriends of The Four Seasons, etc.); should fit well together a la 60s band Shangri-las and be believable as tough-as-nails Jersey girls; comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; has a strong belt.

SEEKING:

Narrator/Mysterious Man: Male, age 40s to 60s. Vocal Range: G2 - E4. Mysterious character with a secret. Minimal singing - dialogue with physical movement.

Cinderella: Female, age 20 to 30. Vocal Range: G3 - G5. A young, earnest maiden who is constantly mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters.

Jack: Male, age 20 to 30. Vocal Range: B2 - G4. The feckless giant killer who is ‘almost a man.’ He is adventurous, naive, energetic, and bright-eyed.

Jack’s Mother: Female, age 50 to 65. Vocal Range: Bb3 - Gb5. Browbeating and weary, Jack’s protective mother who is independent, bold, and strong-willed.

The Baker: Male, age 35 to 45. Vocal Range: Ab2 - G4. A harried and insecure baker who is simple and loving, yet protective of his family. He wants his wife to be happy and is willing to do anything to ensure her happiness but refuses to let others fight his battles.

The Baker’s Wife: Female, age: 35 to 45. Vocal Range: F3 - G5. Determined and bright woman who wishes to be a mother. She leads a simple yet satisfying life and is very low-maintenance yet proactive in her endeavors.

Cinderella’s Stepmother: Female, age 40 to 50. Vocal Range: A3 - F#5. The mean-spirited, demanding stepmother of Cinderella.

Florinda And Lucinda: Female, 25 to 35. Vocal Range: C4 - Ab5. Cinderella’s stepsisters who are black of heart. They follow in their mother’s footsteps of abusing Cinderella.

Little Red Riding Hood: Female, age 18 to 20. Vocal Range: Bb3 - F5. A spoiled young girl who is strong-willed, quick-witted, fearless, yet youthful and naive.

The Witch: Female, age 45 to 55. Vocal Range: F3 - G5. Sarcastic, ugly-then-gorgeous, obsessive protector of Rapunzel who is straightforward and aggressive.

Cinderella’s Mother: CAST. Female, age 40 to 55. Vocal Range: E4 - F4. Deceased with her soul guarding and aiding her daughter from a tree.

Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince: Male, age 30 to 35. Vocal Range: Bb2 - Gb4. Wolf: Hungry and insatiable hunter who takes advantage of the weak by misleading and captivating his prey. Cinderella’s Prince: Vain and gorgeous, he is a disloyal lover who is currently searching for the next new, exciting thing.

Rapunzel: Female, age 20 to 30. Vocal Range: B3 - A5. A loopy-but-lovely maiden who is sheltered by the Witch and terribly lonely. She yearns to experience the world.

Rapunzel’s Prince: Male, age 30 to 40. Vocal Range: C#3 - E4. Just as vain and gorgeous as his Prince brother, he is always chasing the newest, most exciting endeavor.

The Steward: Male, age 30 to 50. Vocal Range: Ensemble singer. A man-servant who is used to doing whatever he has to solve a problem. His only care is to please his master or the strongest personality in the room. Conniving, callous, and cowardly.

Cinderella’s Father: Male, age 50+. Vocal Range: Ensemble singer. Out of touch with his family but harmless and well-meaning. No solo singing.

Understudies/Swings: Will also cover the roles of Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.
