Set in America, Dance Nation follows a group of pre-teen competitive dancers as they navigate ambition, friendship, and desire in their quest for glory at Nationals in Tampa Bay. The characters confront challenges that force them to question what it takes to win and the sacrifices they are willing to make. The Alberta premiere of Clare Barron’s play, directed by Amanda Goldberg, showcases talents such as Sydney Williams, Kristen Padayas, and Kijo Gatama. As each dance move brings them closer to adulthood, they grapple with the complexities of identity and competition.
